I have a Sony 50x and have not come close to utilizing all it's potential. i'm going to veer out to left field, so watch others chew me out. drop $100.00 on a kenko 1.4x tc, practice until she is getting consistently good images. when she does, buy her a good sigma or tamron big lens.

And, of course those of us who shoot larger subjects further away and desire subject isolation will also appreciate lenses faster than 6.3 .......
Yup, and that is where I use my 600mm F4 at F4. Great isolation, even with a small subject. But the crop camera with the 50-500 at F8 ain't bad either.
Thanks, that's an option we have been discussing.
Thanks Steve, I might stop by on my way to see grandkids in Ft Worth.

My wife went from a Sony 50X to a Canon 6Ti with the 55 and 300mm kit lenses and would like something to recover some of the reach she has with the Sony. Can anyone suggest a decent lens I could get her for around $1000 to $1500?
Tamron G2 is better than the original, and still in your budget.
