My daughter bought me a Arc Touch Bluetooth mouse for Christmas. I was planning to buy a laptop in the new year which I did. When I was setting up the new laptop I tried to pair the mouse. Had a hard time pairing the mouse so I called Microsoft tech. He could not help and said to take it back to vendor where you bought it. I told him that my daughter bought it from Bestbuy and they have a 15 day return policy. He said that he would send a email to me indicating there is a problem with the mouse. Now the fun time starts. Went to Bestbuy to exchange the mouse for another. Well the happy person said that they have a 15 day policy. This went on for about 10 minutes before getting the manger. Manger comes over and says same thing about 15 day exchange policy. This lasted for awhile with me leaving Bestbuy with my mouse stuck in my ?? So much for buying at Bestbuy.

The manufacture supplies the warranty,so send it back to them.

Or maybe a 16 day variance in the policy would help. Or maybe 17 or 18......

Wow! I have not had that problem with Bestbuy. The worse thing that I have had happen was they took back an item, and issued me a store credit (because the refund/exchange period had lapsed). Perhaps you can ask for store credit and buy yourself another mouse? (Or try a different Bestbuy)

Bite the Bullet, get a Logitec wireless keyboard and mouse combo, have it on my laptop for use at home, works perfect, Bob.

Do a nasty if they won't stand by the product. Go in and buy the same mouse, take it home and check it out if it good just put the bad mouse in the package and return it. I did it once when I purchased a Bamboo pad from Best Buy, it was bad on opening the package, I took it back for exchange but somehow could not find the Purchase Receipt. They were to busy to check the Credit card records or just did not care. I purchased another bamboo, swapped packages and returned it as defective.

You said you could not pair the mouse to the computer .... Bob (above) stated he has a Logitech Mouse and Keyboard .....I do too ... it has been working great for 6.5 years. Mine has a tiny receiver which plugs into the laptop's USB port ...... the Logitech system pairs to the computer through this device .... you did not mention this small device .... it would be easy to miss in the packaging if you did not understand how this works. In my den, I have a pull out surface to put the keyboard and mouse on ..... and the computer is a HP Envy 17" and have a 23" monitor on each side of the laptop screen ... for triple screens .... it is great for photography use, genealogy, etc.

My experience with Best Buy is as follows: if you are buying something that you are very familiar with and can use blindfolded Best Buy is ok. If you buy something and may need a smidgen or more of technical advice go somewhere else.

I've had problems trying to cancel a cash sale at Best Buy for a refrigerator that was supposed to be delivered two days later. I returned to the store within an hour of making the purchase, and they wouldn't refund my "CASH", it took them two weeks to send me a check!

Most retailers have an extended return period for Christmas Purchases, which runs through the end of January at Barnes & Noble.

I would reach out to their corporate office, and explain what happened, but also explain that if they continue to impede your manufacturers defect warranty exchange after Microsoft has already been contacted, that you'll publicize the the problem all over the internet that Best Buy refuses to stand behind the products that they sell!

This is not a good customer service response on their part when it comes to defective products!

Don't get me going about "Geek Squad"! I researched and presented a paper about them in one of my college classes that wasn't very flattering! It's kind of "like father, like son" when you look at the relationship between Best Buy and Geek Squad.

I agree with that. The only thing "Geek Squad" ever did for me was to give me the address of the manufacturer to return an item for repair!

You might want to exchange that mouse for a Logitech. I use their M570 trackball and have no problems with it or their 800 wireless keyboard. If you do go Logitech be sure to download their software.

Two thoughts come to mind in this kind of situation. The MFg may have a 1 year warranty? Check the MFg website for possible software updates to download.

The Geek Squad Business Model isn't repair or replace, it's replace all parts that COULD possibly be causing problems with customer's equipment.

They simply don't have time to diagnose and repair, such as performing a system recovery, because of the labor intensive hours needed to do this!

Customer roll-over is more important to them. Get them in, sell them replacement parts or equipment, and push them out as fast as they possibly can.

If you don't believe me, just pretend to be looking at something on the rack near their service counter, and listen in on the conversations between their service reps and the customers bringing in or picking up their electronics!

Items are warrantied by the manufacturer. Many retailers have a period that allows you to return the item to the store and few are forever,Sears tools being an example. These policies are posted and often on your receipt.
