I always take my laptop and an external drive to save my photos on a daily basis when traveling. There are a multitude of smaller laptops that will do a great job if size is an issue when traveling.

Taking a laptop or tablet gives you the ability to edit your photos as you take them

adorama has about 15 pages worth of portable hard drives from various manufacturers and prices. The ones from Lacie are particularly rugged but a bit pricey

If you have a tablet, such as an iPad or Samsung Galaxy, you can download photos on the go. Apple offers an adapter that plugs into the iPad, the. You slide the SD card into the adapter. Download starts immediately. The Galaxy pads have a card slot thst you can use to load up your photos. Depe ding on which cell phone you have, and which camera you have, you can do a wireless photo transfer from your camera to your phone.

My husband and I travel with a Lenovo Yoga 2 and a Western Digital Passport to use to back up our images. So far, this has worked very well for us. We never delete images from a memory card until we get home and back it up to our computer there.

Use multiple SD cards on the trip; put a new card into the camera every 1-2 days. Store the filled cards in the safest place you can think of - in your wallet, with your toothbrush, or whatever place you think that would be. Look upon the SD cards as mini external hard drives.

N, if you're already losing SD cards, what will keep you from losing a different storage device? Now you've got two things to hang onto!! LoL
Why don't you just get a card big enough to hold all the shots you take on that vacation and NEVER take it out of the camera.
Maybe a carabiner to hook the device to your belt?!?!

What I really want to do is to load the images that I took that day to a Hard Drive when I get back to my room at night, this way if I lose the card I will have the images saved.Thank you for your information.

I use a small Chromebook with usb3. I plug a Transcend 1TB Storejet rugged Hdd into one port and a usb3 card reader intimate another. It worked well on my India trip. The Hdd is powered from the USB port so you only need a power supply for the Chromebook.

EDIT: I also keep the images on the card.

+1 for several SD cards - keep them with something essential to stop you losing them. I keep my SD cards in a bag with my contact lenses and meds. I would never suggest buying a huge capacity single SD card and leaving it in the camera - the card could fail (I agree this is rarer with modern day SD cards but it could still happen) and you would lose all of your photos. I always use two or three SD cards a day (I don't fill them up though) and spread my photos of each location across a few cards - just in case one fails. I have been told that I am OTT when I travel but then I have lost photos in the past, and I vowed it would never happen again.

I always travel with a laptop. At the end of each day, I transfer the pictures of the day to the hard drive of the laptop. At the end of the vacation, I transfer all of the pictures to TWO external hard drives in case one of them fails in the future. I also take the SD card out of the camera and put it away in storage. I have three copies of every picture I take. I think that's insurance enough. I've also considered copying my pictures to cloud storage, but so far it seems like extra bother to me.
