Nikon D7200 worth the upgrade?

I've had a D7100 since 2014. I love it. You say you take nature shots, if that includes animals, birds, insects - anything that moves, go for the D7200 because of the larger buffer. However, if it were me, I'd bite the bullet and go for the D500.

"If it aint broke don't fix it" If the 7100 served you well, the only reason to go for the 7200 would be the greater buffer, but that's only if your shooting style requires it.
I LOVE the 7100 and my move would be to the D500, which is my dream camera. Then I would totally forego the full frame cameras.

Xman, the op is now using a D3200 as his D7100 was destroyed and was replaced by a D3200. (I had to read his message twice before I figured it out). It would be a similar upgrade as the D3200 was a downgrade when he moved to the D3200.
Personally, I would relegate the D3200 to a backup camera or "donate" it to the wife/girlfriend, kids or whatever and get them involved in photography. I did this with my wife and it created mixed results. Now, I can semi-freely buy photography accessories, but, now she is wanting to go shoot sunrises, sunsets etc.

I own the D7200 and it is a very well-engineered camera, I sold my D7100 to KEH used the money for a Lens. The 7100 uses a Toshiba sensor and the 7200 uses a Sony made to Nikon specs.
Here are a couple of sites.

http://www.techradar.com/how-to/photography-video-capture/cameras/nikon-d7200-vs-d7100-8-key-differences-you-need-to-know-1320825
The 7200 has a newer computer the Expeed 4 as opposed to the Expeed 3 in the 7100.
I believe the sensor is the same as Sony 6000 series but performs better in the Nikon because of the Nikon Specs and the Nikon Expeed computer system.
Hope this helps.

Hey Hoggers I need your expert opinions. Last year my 7100 which I really liked was stolen!! Since then I have been using a 3200. Now ready to get a new camera. I mainly shoot Events, Street Lifestyles, Portraits and Nature. Trying to decide on another 7100 or should I go for the 7200.Has anyone had experience with both cameras? Is the 7200 really worth the upgrade? Are there major differences? After a ton of research on both cameras I am still not convinced one way or another. I do like the idea of built in WiFi on the 7200 as I like to share my photos. I tried the plug in Wifi on the 7100 and was dissapointed in its performance. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I know you guys are not bias one way or another. Thanks

Try a D5300. It takes same images as D7100 and has wifi.

I used to have a 7100 but got a case of gas and bought the 7200. The only real difference for my style shooting is the absence of banding at high iso settings. I don't see any difference at more 'normal' settings. I also have a D500. If you need to shoot at higher iso settings (inside dimly lit rooms with moving people) this camera is the way to go. It's ability to shoot cleanly at absurdly high iso settings is phenomenal. I still love my D7200, it is still my go to choice when I travel, but the D500 is in another class. If possible, try renting one. I think that if you do you will end up owning one

Yes, the D5300 has been quoted in photography articles, as having the same IQ as the D7100. Not bad.

A D500 is an upgrade, a D7200 is not an upgrade.

But the D5300 does NOT have the same ability for shutter actuations. It is considered an "Amateur" camera by Nikon where the D7100/D7200 is considered a Pro/Am camera and has a heavier duty shutter. Its not important if you are just going to take a few snapshots on vacation and holidays but COULD be very important if you go out and shoot 50- 200 shots on a trip to a bird sanctuary, nature preserve etc. and do it daily, weekly, monthly like many of us in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, California, Texas and other places with a wide variety of shots, animals, birds and scenery do. For the 10 or 20 shots on a holiday, the 40 or 50 shots a day on a vacation etc. the entry level cameras are great get your feet wet and develop and interest cameras.

The D7200 has a bigger buffer, perhaps and not sure of it, a slightly faster firing rate.
D7200 bodies are a bargain refurb.

The D7100 was working for you and the 3200 doesn't measure up to all your needs the same way. The D7200 has a bigger buffer which for your sporting events you will appreciate. It should fit you like an old pair of jeans.

I own and luv my D7200. Great camera!
If you are already considering FX, how about the D750? You may need to upgrade your glass.
