Hey Martin well I've emailed six images to the gallery and did everything they asked on their site, got a quick reply saying they'll get back to me in 14 days so here's hoping.
Sure I might enter the contest too but if I win top prize we better delete this convo or people might say "it's a fix" hehe

I understand you saying the galleries are a bit snobby. They are for the most part and choose to deal only with well known artists. I have tried to sell my work. But get the brush off even though I have pointed out my work is better than some that are already on display. "Ah there you see these are noted artists your not".

On the whole I agree with your comments but I do think that the Alverton Gallery are taking a different approach as far as photographers are concerned. They certainly have with me, They in fact approached me, not the other way round and the owner is a photographer himself and comes across as a really nice guy. I won a contest, he saw my post and invited me to co host and co-judge his latest photo contest. I have tried both. Photographs . "What Camera are you using? " I replied Canon Rebel 3. Response. "Oh a cheap camera. Good bye". My reply to that is not printable.
Painting as I said before. "They are known artists. Your not". My reply in part unprintable . "How do I get known if you close me and others like me out. No wonder Van Gogh, Rembrant. Monet etc had to die before they were recognised. Bah Humbug." LOL translate for yourself what is meant by Bah Humbug.
