Beautiful image of a regal beast. I've never seen a metal print but no matter how its processed
I'm sure this photo will look good hanging on your wall.

Your tiger image is beautiful and will come out outstanding on metal! I printed two portraits I made of my granddaughters on metal at Sam's club(they had a promotion at half off) and they came out very impressive with no need to frame, just hang. You can clean when necessary with a damp cloth.

I have two metal prints. Both have a lot of detail, which IMO, is where metal prints excel. One is of a grizzly bear and the other is of sand formations in Monument Valley. Your tiger has a lot of hair detail and I think that it would be ideal for a metal print. My favorites are still canvas mats, but you can't go wrong with metal, especially if there is much detail in the image.

I have never even seen a metal print in the flesh.

I just ordered one from Fine Art America - 24 inch square - $101 + $24 shipping.

Since I am old school, my initial plan is to flush mount the metal in a wood frame - or - maybe a metal frame - or maybe add a mat - I just do not know at this point till I see how the different options look.

Below is a reduced version of the image I am using ......

I have metal prints from both Bay Photos and Meridian. Watch for the sales they offer. Bay's metal prints are of great quality and you they offer 5 finishes. You can order a sample kit for about $37 that will give you the 5 finishes.

My experience with the one metallic print I have is they need to be displayed in good bright light to enjoy the full effect of the reflective metal pigments. In my case, I had to order a LED display light that mounts above (like at museums) to add some light to my image. It's displayed in my poorly lit living room but with the light, it is the first thing guests comment on. They love the 3D effect it seems to have. I bought my 24 x 36 metal print at Nations Photo Lab for $38.00 and was very pleased with them. Fast and professional service.

Yes, that is the impression I am getting - will give Bay Photo a look . Someone has eluded to putting clear plexi on the front of the metal - ever heard of that ? .....

I wouldn't put anything that touch the surface over the print.

First of all, great shot. Perfect detail on the fur and eyes.

I'm considering some metal prints also so please report back on your results. A friend of mine had one made of an Antarctica landscape. It is simply stunning. The mounting method I have seen and like is simply about 3/4 to 1" foam on the back that doesn't come out to the edges. When hung, the photo "floats" on the wall and shadows from lighting create the "frame".

Tried one for the hell of it. Didn't suit my style. Admittedly, the right image will look pretty good on a metal / metallic print. An image not suited for that medium will look really disappointing.

I agree. the metal prints are a new style of this digital age and I believe they should be displayed as is and "floating" on the wall. And I am a retired professional picture framer!!!

Most of the metal prints I've seen are not matted or framed. Check out Bay Photo and see ALL the different mounts. They really look good just stand alone in my opinion. I've been meaning to have some done just haven't got around to it. Enjoy!

First, great photo. Wish I could have been there.

I find that images such as yours (very sharp) work very well in metal prints. most come with an offset in the back so that they stand out from the wall. Personal preference, not sure about matts for a metal print. There are different surfaces for metal prints from very glossy to matt and also sheer where you can see the metal through the picture. Go on line to Bay photo and view the different surfaces. You can also buy a small sample book of the various surfaces (inexpensive).

Good luck!

I have had a few pics done on metal with good results. I had a lightning shot printed commercially in town. When the same print was done on metal the result wAs much better including detail.

Hello...
I have a Awards & Engraving business and deal with these quite a bit. I've made several out of my own pics. I'm not so sure I'd mount them in a frame as one can do that with a regular print but some people do I guess. A popular way is to mount them with top and bottom "hangers" for lack of a better word that are about an 1/2" thick and accent the photos about a 1/2" from the wall as a stand alone... Hope this helps :)
