I'm initiating this thread with the hopes of accumulating a list of outstanding camera stores throughout the country. We are all aware of the great camera stores in New York, but there are still those hangers-on throughout the country that will let you test lenses right out of the box as well as rent lenses. In the Dallas area it's Arlington Camera in Arlington, TX....almost under the shadows of Jerry Jones Stadium and the Ranger Ballfield as well. I'll post the link to their website. If you have a camera store you'd like to post, please do so. Perhaps when they've all been posted a new thread could be compiled with a state by state listing.

Texas, Arlington

Samy's Camera in California. They aren't in the same class as B&H, but they claim to have 8 stores, so a least you can say they are in business here and have been for a long time. Actually they only have 6 brick and mortar stores but I think they count the Playa Vista - Rentals Only as a store and their eBay department as a store. I did buy my first digital camera there and I think I got a great deal since that weekend they paid the tax and I got a free Canon Pixma Pro-9000 printer after rebate with the deal. They have a lot to choose from and it's a good place to see feel and try equipment. They also rent equipment.

They also have outstanding classes for a reasonable price.

Although located primarily in southern Ontario, Henry's has 29 stores. Shoppers in New York State can take great advantage of the low dollar and get great deals.
For American shoppers in the Northwest, in western Canada there is "Lens & Shutter"(3 stores in BC) and "The Camera Store" in Calgary, Alberta.

In southern New Jersey, we have T & F Camera in Vineland:
1362 Delsea Drive
Vineland, NJ. 08360
(856-691-5328)
Tfcamerashop.com

It's a small place with two very experienced brothers (Bart & Mike) who own and run it. Very knowledgable, helpful, and are NOT PUSHY!!

You can also do a Google search for t&fcamera to find additional links to more info on them.

Southeastern Camera (larger with a great selection of both new and used) and Peace St Camera (smaller and older with plenty of film, chemicals and darkroom supplies), both in Raleigh, NC and staffed by pros.

In the Minneapolis/St Paul area there is West Photo in one location and National Camera Exchange with several locations. There is a third that does repairs (only?), but I do not know the name.

I second Samy's!
I buy more from Samy's than from NY, but I'll admit, I've never been there. Yes I pay tax but I'm OK with that. And the people that work there actually speak California(not weird)!!!
