Canon is fully aware that these places exist --- Canon can only enforce their prices with their "Authorized Dealers" ---- Again I refer you back to the concept of a free market --- Granted -- A little chancy but just the same -- "A Free - buyer beware - Market"

If for example a canon rep on his/her way to a camera store overhears 2 people talking about a deal in front of the store this particular store gave one of them, a deal that is not authorized by canon, what do you think will happen? Or are you saying that a non authorized dealer is able to purchase USA models from either canon or from the distribution center? Thank you

Could you share any experience with 42nd St photo in NY? They seem to be the only one who has the Panasonic fz1000 in stock.

It is up to each individual to make their own personal decision in what they purchase and from whom and how much they pay. "To each their own", if they are satisfied, good for them. If they are disgruntled, let them "Learn a lesson" and try something different next time. No particular Company is perfect, sometimes issues arise, we are not happy and we complain, if they are reputable, they will attempt to work with us, if they are not, hope we learned a lesson. This is just one person's opinion.

Talk to any pro, they buy from B&H or Adorama if they are on the east coast.

"Seem" is the word. If you order one, they will take your money, and you will wait. Or, it could be gray market. Or, they might sell you one with none of the "accessories," like a battery charger, etc. Be patient and buy from a real store.

If you are talking online retailers, there is adorama, cameta and of course Amazon. Not to mention ALL the local shops in town. I understand that many do go out of business, but there are still many one can visit locally. Prices are the same, not sure what you get at B&H that you can't get at adorama or cameta if you have questions. I'm sure you will get similar service from Hunt's, Samy's, Murphy's, Roberts, Mike's, Dodd Camera, Bedford, National Camera Exchange, - just saying.

PS: I have nothing against B&H, but to say that they are the only sure bet is ridiculous.

You are apparently dyslexic or have attention deficit disorder .I did not say that B&H was the only "sure bet". Your conclusion that My statement was ridiculous was , NOT based on "MY Statement" Of course, this is TYPICAL you, so I choose to ignore you, henceforth... RJM
