Yes.. To all of this = What Gene has said make good sense - and you should practice with the Camera in hand along with the book, and or vids you are viewing. The "Zone System" becomes almost automatic After You understand the practice of the way it is approached.

For someone who is so preoccupied with comprehension, you sure miss the boat at times. Why don't you reread what Gene wrote. One paragraph dealt with "how" to get out of "auto" the following paragraph is additional info to improve her shots. Yes the op should shoot in raw if photographing weddings. Way easier to deal with WB.

You know, for someone who is still producing nothing but snapshots after what? 40 or 50 years? While you have every right to express your opinion, it doesn't mean that you should. Since you have nothing else to do anyway, why don't you look at Gene's photography? Do you really think "YOU" are qualified to correct Gene?

Gotta the 'superior' thread monitor that decides what is what.

THAT is typical of UHH more the various form of passive aggressive behavior.

THIS and the 'thread monitor' 'comments' are off topic.

The 'appreciation of what is a pro' is right on target as it offers an insight of what is considered a pro now a day. It explains the negative posts seen in this thread. But never-mind, the 'teacher' declares what it wants as 'off topic.

GFY 'room monitor' you are good at that, probably the only thing you are good at anyway.

For a change, why don't you read your own unsolicited posts to a lot of members. Your posts to others are more negative in nature than most - your are one to talk.

Doreen, unfortunately you have poked "the beast" and now have all sorts of rude comments from our regular "rude commentors". Don't mind them...evidently their only form of entertainment is belittling others which is sad. LOL

I agree with the suggestion to read "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson. I also think that a logical progression and the way I learned th different modes was to shoot in Aperture mode for a week, shoot in Shutter priority for a week, then shoot for a week deciding which of those modes work best for each situation. Once you know the results you want from your image you will know which mode to use. THEN you can move on to Manual mode and have even more creative control over your images. Good luck!

But if Doreen read the book it would tell her to put the camera in permanent manual mode.

Now children, I want you all to go stand in the corner until you can stop this stupid bickering. Why does this crap happen so much on here. Are there that many people out there striving for attention? Come on, act like real adults for a change !!

I guess 'cause shootin' a wedding in auto is kinda like drivin' the Nash Rambler in this song:
