The real question is why does Canon make it so difficult to get the shutter count. Are they hiding something?

Canon might feel the same way: Why is it a factor? What difference does the shutter count make?

I know this has been covered in the past, but I'm sort of new to this forum.
I have downloaded EOSINFO but it continues to tell me there is no camera attached.
What am I doing wrong?
Very important, as the Mean women i married won't let me buy the 5dsr until I sell this body!!

Most people like to hoard most of their Photographs, so make an estimate: Find the number of pictures saved in your computer with the 5D2 and Double it if you discard about half the photographs. That should give you a fair estimate and it will not cost a penny. If you tend to discard say 20% every time you shoot-out, then multiply the number of saved pictures by 1.2 ( that is 100%-all your pictures + 20% discarded). Only you know for sure what you do with your pictures. Hope this will help, if not go to DIREStudio and get the program for Canon actuations for about $4 for a life time; I understand it works very well. Have a good evening.

Might be easier to sell the mean women. Use the profits for a new camera body. Keep the old one fir a spare and if anything is left over find a nice woman

You may be a natural sales person, but selling a mean person is a challege. Ask the Trump campaign!

Search the web to find the shutter actuation of any camera.

This topic comes time and time again and the answer is always: Check using the web for method (take a picture, find a good proprietary EXIF reader and you see everything you need, down to the camera serial number.

Not with a Canon you don't. Canon does not put shutter count in exif!!!

Japakomom, I use a Mac and was wondering how easy the Shutter count app is to use. I read the description on the App Store and it says you must use the EOS utility mode to connect or use. How does this work with my phone? This is new to me. Any help or explanation is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have never used the app with a phone. I downloaded the app onto my macbook pro and all I have to do is bring the app up, plug in my camera using the usb cord, and then turn on the camera. The app is able to recognize the camera and will list the current count. It keeps track in list form of dates and shutter counts on the camera and you can see how much you are shooting over time. It is a very simple program and has always worked for me. I have been using it for a 6D - I recently purchased a 5D Mark IV, I am sure it will not work as it is too recent of a camera.

EOSMSG (Free) claims to support the 5D4 - as they term it.

Not yet, they don't have v5 out which is the soft that will. Present version is 4.5.

Are you sure? The version that I am running at this very moment on W10 claims to be v5.1.7

Sadly I don't have a 5D mk IV to test, and I'm not planning on robbing any banks to get one

I stand corrected. Seems after dl'ing I have 5.17 as well Peter. Think I'm going to stay with my 5D3 for now unless Canon comes out with the AA filter removed.

I am going by what they have posted on the site and it says 4.5. You could very well be right. I'll help you rob the banks if I get one too :)

My visit to the site has v5 in red, and it identifies as v5 on install and when running...

You want the Ansel Adams filter removed?

Congratulations on your Mark IV purchase. I have one in my dreams! Thanks so much for the help. I still have not been able to get ShutterCount app to work either on my phone or Mac. I have emailed support so hopefully they can help figure out what is wrong.
