Vicki, I've got to get over there again. The last time was for my daughter's wedding years ago! I just can't seem to get away. You're photos sure got me thinking!

Fabulous set Vicki, and I am ready to see all the images you want to post. I was fortunate enough to visit 4 of the islands in 2009. My most memorable experience was the helicopter ride from Hilo over to the volcano area and back. I was able to get some good shots of the lava spilling into the sea and creating clouds of steam.

Good set. Thanks for taking us there.

Glad you enjoyed these. There are more to come displaying different aspects of the Big Island. I hope you'll enjoy the rest of the journey.

Enjoyable set Vicki and these brought back memories... I was there last November on Kauai & Waikiki
Beautiful!!

Kauai has always been a favorite, so this was a departure for us in many ways with lots of new sights and areas to explore. Waikiki is just part of another big city and has been something we've been able to avoid since mainland flights are now being accommodated by many of the outer island airports. Over the years we've managed to spend time on all of the islands. Hawaii and Kauai will always remain at the top of the list.

Thanks for the visit Angela. I'm glad you enjoyed these.

Nice shots. I had no idea there were places with such character in Hawaii. The second last one - guy with window - would make really cool crop of upper right quarter.

Most of the shots were taken in the tourist section of Kona, thus the character. I'll have to revist that shot and play with it a little. When I first did the edit, I was more interested in color and geometric patterns and barely noticed the guy in the window. Thanks for the visit and suggestion.

Nice set, Vicki. Love all the bright colors.

I found the colors and patterns very interesting if not unexpected. These aren't the kinds of scenes you see on some of the other islands. It was a fun set to shoot and edit. Thanks for looking and commenting Earl.

Kauai was paradise, but I was not impressed with Waikiki at all, it was like being in Manhattan!! Long trip for us so I doubt if I'd ever go back, but I did get lots of photos!
I enjoyed seeing yours!

It's a pretty easy trip for those of us who live in CA. I'm ready to go back and would have stayed longer if it had been possible.

Thank you Tom. We took a helicopter ride over Kauai a few years ago and considered doing it again on this trip. Since there were 10 of us, and we were footing the bill, we decided to visit the park by car. I had sprained my ankle the first morning and didn't want to try to hike down to the active area. Buying a DVD of the eruption had a certain appeal, but we didn't do that either. I did get some fairly good shots of the main crater and its output of steam. It's not molten lava, but it gives a sense of the area. I'll post that at some point, too.

For you it would be easier to fly to Europe.

I think Waikiki and Honolulu in general is worth the experience. We used to have to fly through there to get to the outer islands, so we appreciate what has been done to lengthen runways and make direct flights from the west coast possible.

Thanks so much Randy. I was enthralled with all of the colors. There was a photo op every place I looked it seemed, and it's a wonder my cameras didn't start smoking.
