It wouldn't be like be like Face Book, just a suggestion for being quick in communicating your initial feelings. One could always write whatever.....Thanks.

Thank you so much for your very kind and thoughtful input. However, this was not my intention and I do want you to know that I love you, man!

Unfortunately that's not enough sometimes. I want a ban or mute button that prevents certain people from even posting or quoting on a thread.

The photographer who specializes in portraits of cute puppies and adorable kittens will always end up accumulating the most "likes". At least that's what I've noticed on other photography sites which have implemented the "like" button for image posts.

You can do that, although not on a thread by thread basis. If you don't want to hear from someone, just block them.
I've been blocked, although I have no idea why, honestly, I really don't know why. If I've offended someone, who didn't deserve it, I apologize and am truly sorry I said something inappropriate that offended you.

Or you can just skip over posts by people you don't want to read.

The option to exclude individuals from posting on a thread will only lead to a "private club" environment, have a fracturing effect on the UHH community as a whole, and create unnecessary hostility. There will be some individuals who surely will abuse the option by banning anyone they've had a disagreement with on a previous post. Next, you will have counter-banning - "I ban you because you banned me". The whole thing will spin out of control very quickly, and the "Ugly" in "Ugly Hedgehog" will take on a new meaning.

I think it would be a big mistake to head in that direction.

Good luck on getting a consensus as to whom should be the dictator.

I may have misunderstood your comment. You can put obnoxious people on your Ignore list, so they cannot comment on a thread you started. But you have to do so before you post, and even some of the worst here often make positive contributions so it doesn't seem fair to arbitrarily block someone beforehand. I'd like the ability to block someone after they become disruptive. It's a pity to even have to talk about this!

I could live with that...that might help cut down on the number of irrelevant posts on one's own thread/post.

I would love to see a method of Like or Reply as we have on Face Book. With this method, one could show how the photo affected them, more so in a quick positive method, eliminating the obligatory comments from and to the artist. Of course, one could always reply with comments, which could open up further discussion, as we have now. I would like very much to send my quick Like without the need for a comment. I know the thumbs up works but it involves too many steps. Thanks for listening.......Tommy.

If you need this option you will also like the chance to "dislike" something. Imagine FaceBuk with a dislike button!

My opinion, the more the programmers work toward turning this forum into just another Utwitface, the less unique it becomes and the more attractive it becomes to a less than desirable element. Are there disruptive types here, yes. You will always have this but as the commonality between all of us is a passion for photography, maybe that's not so bad, annoying at times but its reality.

What I don't understand is why so many folks get so upset when someone posts something they don't approve of or something that's already been discussed. As long as the poster stays within the forums published guide lines, what difference does it make. It's like TV, if you don't like what's on the channel, don't watch it, go to another channel. I don't know, maybe it's an age thing. Don't get me wrong, I'm not calling anyone old or curmudgeon, but, from reading the many, many posts I've read since joining, it's fairly easy to tell a lot of the regulars are older than I am, and I'm not young; I've been with the same company for 37 years now and the first SLR I owned was a brand new second generation Minolta srT-101 I got when I graduated high school.

"Like" is just more clutter without giving any real feedback. I dislike Facebook because of this and people on Facebook feel compelled to answer without any real interchange, very hollow responses. You want Facebook interface than visit Facebook. UHH is a forum for interchange which most here desire. Don't mess with this format that actually involves real thought.
