I learned very early on to put the cap you removed from the new cartridge on to the "empty" cartridge you are replacing. I am speaking of Canon ink jet, I have no other ink jet experience.

Just changed ink tanks. Was a touch careless when handling the black tank and got ink all over my hands. Has this ever happened to anyone else or am I the only one?

You may be the only one that has done that. But I recall the movie "Ernest Goes to Camp" where he was chewing on his pen and ended up with ink all over his face. I think he did you one better!

Just cut your hand off. Ink stain gone!

But then WHAT does he do with the detached stained hand?!
It now become a Bio-Hazard! He can't just throw it out. If he buries it, it would contaminate the ground water. If he just throws it on the ground he may poison his own dog!
Best to just sew it back on and live with the darned stained hand!!!

Just wait till you also drip fresh black ink on a new carpet.

I was changing the yellow cartridge in my Pro-100 and I guess I wasn't supposed to shake the tank or I touched it in such a way that I got ink on both my hands AND my carpet!

I would wear gloves if I were going to do this.
