Just changed ink tanks. Was a touch careless when handling the black tank and got ink all over my hands. Has this ever happened to anyone else or am I the only one?

No, but I had a laser jet printer once and tried to refill the cartridge and got black powder all over the place, what a mess. From then on I bought cartridges at the store.

Isn't that part of the process?

I don't recall having a lot of ink on my hands while changing tanks, but did have a bit of mess from one tank that developed a leak and dripped ink on stuff.

Now when refilling tanks!!! I put the tanks on a paper plate and wear disposable gloves from the medical supply store.

I used to have this problem when refilling ink jet tanks, fortunately the ink washes of skin very easily, but is not that easy on clothing.

I haven't done that yet, but I expect I will. You sound like you survived!

Oh you poor man I can only imagine how disturbing it must have been for you. Im sure sharing such a traumatic event with your buddies on the Hog can only help with the healing process. Remember we are here bro so if you feel the need to talk it through please feel free to continue the conversation. The staff are trained to listen and help and comment in a non judgmental fashion.

I am in the process of completing a home remodeling project. The HP 6830 printer I purchased just before the project started and stored during the project in original packing, would not work due to print head error. Turned out the whole line is defective and HP has a replacement program. You send in the defective and they send you a rebuilt version. The replacement comes with print cartridges and a note that says the cartridges must be used for the first run of the printer - they are designed for start up. My problem was that one of the cartridges leaked inside its package. I did not see the leak until it was too late - all over my hands and worse, magenta ink all over a new carpet. Would have been better had it been the black that leaked.

Yeah! I refill my tanks - "Precision Inks" is the company that I get my ink from. Did not follow the instructions very carefully and got some on my fingers... I washed my hands in bleach (50-50 mix with water... Took it right off.

No, you are the first. No one has gotten dirty hands from changing the toner cartridge in a copy machine, either. Shame on you!
