This image is one from the shoot I did with Emmy, for those who have seen some other shots I have posted in the People Section. I am including a link for you to download my Original NEF (Nikon RAW file -
http://apia.wd2go.com/api/1.0/rest/device_redirect?device_user_id=18775329&device_uri=%2Fapi%2F1.0%2Frest%2Ffile_contents%2FPublic%2FShared%2520Pictures%2F_DSC3391.nef%3Fdevice_user_id%3D18775329%26request_auth_code%3D8add74ffde8c9ffceafad50005c7ff08bdd9d0e62f32817693e0f827344fb863)and also the DNG equivalent (
http://apia.wd2go.com/api/1.0/rest/device_redirect?device_user_id=18775329&device_uri=%2Fapi%2F1.0%2Frest%2Ffile_contents%2FPublic%2FShared%2520Pictures%2F_DSC3391.dng%3Fdevice_user_id%3D18775329%26request_auth_code%3D45f092609b3343a50075a4c026ba504bff22d43dc1120f72652fd74708838d3c)
of that RAW file. I am uploading what I have done with it.

This vast overexposure was a result of shooting and not checking my ISO that I changed to try and get another shot of the lighting set-up used for part of this shoot. It was quite dark, so I had made my ISO 3200, I believe. I thought this might be an interesting image after Post Processing, so I gave it a whirl.

See what you come up with. My intent was to try to make an image that is as close to a real useable image, but in a High Key format. I wanted some detail and features showing, so give it a try if you feel up to it. Thanks.

I thought about posting this in The Digital Post Processing section, but opted to do it here, first.

Best Regards,
Tom

Frank,

Try this for the NEF(RAW) format file. However, do a copy of the complete URL, here (below), and then paste it into your browser to get a download of the file. Then, find it on your computer and manually open it in your Image Processing Program (PS, LR, Ect.) and hopefully that will work - it did for me just fine. However, it brought it in as a tiff file format for some reason.

Here is the .xmp file as well.

This is the link (below) to the DNG file version and do the same as described above to access the file. Let me know if you succeed. Thank you, Frank.

I just returned from work and have to go out again, but am trying to post working links. Thanks for letting me know.

Frank,

When you have finished, I'll be anxious to see what you came up with. Feel free to upload more than one rendition - I guess anything is free game on this image! Thanks, Frank.

I hope a few more people check this out and try it - I'd love to see what they do and how the images turn out.

Best Regards,
Tom

Tom there wasn't much to do here. So little information to work with. I really don't know if I get what you were after.

Frank,

You are absolutely correct. It was a RAW format, so whatever data could be there, was there. Granted, it is really overexposed, but I was:

1). Trying to salvage the shot
2). Putting it up for a challenge to anyone who wanted to try to make something out of essentially very little.
3). Just thought it created a totally different appearance or idea for a Portrait Shot!
4). Perhaps this shows that I am 'merely just a little off, a few cards short of a full deck, or perhaps in a world of my own' - Hah!

I thought it might give people an opportunity to try to work or play and PP an image that had gone wrong and try to make the best of a bad mistake, a challenge, some creativity, or whatever anyone would like to call it.

Thanks very much for your time and work involved here. I appreciate what you did - and see, look how different it is from what I had done, but yet, people can tell what they are looking at - right?!

Most Appreciated,
Tom

Here you go Tom. I hope you like it. I think it turned out pretty good. I could have colored her eyes the correct color but I had to guess and this is it.

Jim,

Hey, that looks very nice. Soft in the right places and defined where it needs to be. I like the coloring and your choices of 'artwork'. Colors are appropriate. Thank you for your time and effort. I think you did a great job.

Had you seen any of the photos I had posted/uploaded that I had taken of her during the shoot?

Best Regards,
Tom

Thanks for directing me to other pictures. Now I think the color of her eyes came out about right.
I took Emmy 3 and tried to do a high key look to see what it would look like.
I cropped in to just show a bit of her neck and 3/4 of her face. It became low res at this point but I was just experimenting.
I duped the base picture and on this layer I took her to camera raw filter and blew her skin out.
I also did a bit of desaturation and added clarity.
I then made another dup of the base layer and put it on top, masked it and brought in the eyes full strength, lips about 60% and 10% hair.
It came out rather good considering the low res I was working with.

I now think I will try one of my shots and see how it comes out. I took some of a model 2 weeks ago that has light skin.
I think it will look good on her. All said thanks for the challenge I think it did some good for me and might add this new process in my bag of tricks.

Jim,

Your work on Emmy 3 sounds very interesting, indeed. Would you consider uploading it here on this thread so I can see it? Or, I'll send you a PM with my email address and you can send it to me there which would probably be better for me. Heck, you can send it both places so others on UHH can see what you had done. Thank you.

Tom
