I had a similar problem--the focus point wouldn't move. I had inadvertently switched the focus selector lock switch from the dot to the L position. Easy enough to do in the dark.

Thanks! That is the solution for the focus points issue. Now I don't have to look like an idiot to Nikon and possibly make them discount the more serious issues. Someone else had mentioned Lock but I had no idea what they meant. Your comment was precise. Thanks again. I do do a lot of shooting in the dark! lol
What's the website with the return forms? I don't see anything in the manual and not sure where to go in nikon.com ?

Sorry to appear stupid but I see a zillion Nikon repair shops when I google Nikon repair but none have forms and I want to make sure I'm sending to the right place. Thanks.

You found an authorized shop but not Nikon's I would rather have Nikon work on a warranty

Me too. That's why I'm grateful that you sent me the correct link. I've filled everything out and printed out my purchase receipt from B&H but I have no idea where to find the actual warranty, which they also require. It's not in the original box that I still have. Any suggestions?

You'd think they'd KNOW what their own warranty is on various products!

When you bought the camera from B&H did it say US warranty if so the should have been a small slip in the package

Hi all,
The Nikon D7100 I bought in May has been acting erratically since I got it but I kept thinking it must be me. I often have to shoot in manual because I can't trust the aperture priority setting. Now the focus button won't move off center position and I'm getting some shutter lag that shouldn't be happening. Tonight in the middle of a Homecoming game I had to switch completely to my old (5-6 years old) D5100.
I've never returned anything to Nikon but since this is only 5 months old - bought from B&H - I'm wondering if I should return to Nikon or if I should just have the company I shoot for fix it. I have used this camera HEAVILY since May - for a wedding, bird/nature photography and over 40 sports events where I average 1000 shutter actuations per. In other words the camera probably has over 50K shutter actuations already.
How long does it usually take for Nikon to do a repair? Any experience with this?
Thanks!
Donna
Hi all, br br The Nikon D7100 I bought in May has... (

Donna, I had a small problem develop with my D700 about 11 months after I got it. I dealt directly with Nikon and sent it in for repair.
Here's the good part. Once they repaired it, it came back with an extended warranty expiration date. I was also advised that I could send it back prior to that expiration date and have it cleaned, adjusted, overall inspection, etc. again, at no charge. I did this.
So, by dealing directly with Nikon, which is probably what B and H will tell you to do anyway, you'll benefit.

send it back to nikon or call them first .
May be there is something set at a wrong setting as I once had my camera set at something wrong and I had to keep adjusting the setting .
What was wrong my white balance was in the wrong place a minor adjustment 1/2 a second and every thing was good

Yes, it has a US warranty and I think I remember seeing a small slip of paper but I have no idea what happened to it. Do you think B&H will provide me with a duplicate?

Thanks, but no wrong setting. Just very inconsistent with results.
