Ah, it seems the CA Gov vetoed the law:

http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2015/09/10/california-drones-veto-governor-jerry-brown-news-photographers/71987132/

But the article notes OR has a law and the reg FAA is drafting currently proposes 500 ft. limit.

It may not be specifically illegal to shoot down a drone, but it may be illegal to discharge a weapon under certain circumstances, so that may create a few problems...

If you use the right weapon they can't get you for a firearm. A super soaker water cannon would work.

L. Fingar beat me to it.

I don't know what year that was written, and since I rarely fly anymore, I haven't been keeping up, but I'm pretty sure there is a 300 ft ceiling. The AMA (American Model Assocation) provides its members with a $1 million insurance policy, of course that is loaded with conditions.

I think a Paint Ball Gun is in order. One with holds about 200 rounds.

My understanding is that it is illegal to shoot a drone down with a firearm. However, I don't think that if you knock it out of the sky with a big stick or baseball bat, you would be charged.
Does anyone know if the drone's pilot can see video "real time" from the craft?
If not, just hide the evidence when they come looking for it! :)

How about using a paint-ball gun? At least you might blind the camera!!

I shoot a lot of macro (insects) and one of my favorite places to go is the Drake Hill Flower Bridge ( http://www.simsbury-ct.gov/culture-parks-recreation/pages/the-old-drake-hill-flower-bridge ) in my town. I had been there about 10 minutes when I heard a buzzing noise and looked up. About 3 feet above my head was a drone. It went up and down and back and forth for about 15 minutes. I don't know why, but it made me very uncomfortable and I got in my car before the drone was finished. Has anyone else had a drone film them. To me it was creepy, not knowing who was filming.

Yeah, they are becoming a real problem, and it's against federal law to interfere with them.

I had one fly over my boat and circle around. No problem. What's the big deal with being photographed? Are you on a secret mission?

Not a big deal to be photographed, but it totally threw off my concentration in shooting macro in peace and quiet. They are quite noisy in a peaceful setting.

I had one come down in the back yard this summer. It was taking pictures of Janny Sun bathing.:) It didn't make it back home tho. Seems like a 45 bullet stops them from flying pretty fast! I picked up what was left of it and sat it out by the road with a nice note on it.:) It was gone the next day?

The more I hear reports of drones lately, the more I believe they can easily be seen as an invasion of privacy. The real difficulty begins with owner responsible behavior and that's quickly becoming a lost attribute.

Yes, the owner of the drone sees real live video on his screen.

When the owners of these flying monstrosities were children they were not taught responsibility; in fact they were not taught anything. they ran loose like a bunch of hyenas.
