Apparently Boeing had the same idea:
California Veto's there bill about Drowns.
California governor vetoes SB 142
Legislation intended to restrict drone pilots in California has been vetoed by Governor Jerry Brown. In a media release published on September 10, AMA Executive Director, Dave Mathewson, publically thanked the nearly 3,000 AMA members in California who wrote to the Governor and urged him to veto the legislation.

That is really cool Bill. I am glad he did that. There are more good folks flying them than bad. But the stupid folks always get in the news for being stupid and everyone else pays the price! At lest he has a brain and can think!!!!

Erv, I used to fly a lot, and believe it or not, I have never run across a deliberate bad flier, all the folks I know are more then happy to work with those trying to learn. As you mentioned, it's the few Killing it for the few.

Bill & Erv,
Believe it or not, it's not only drones and model aircraft that are in danger. I used to fly an ancient Cessna over the desert between Sparks, NV and the Pyramid Lake Indian Reservation; occasionally, with limited permission, I was allowed to fly into the Reservation. We were looking at the condition of springs around which we would hunt. We were flying low and very slow, but that old barter was noisy. More than once we were shot at by hunters on the ground who were upset because they thought we were flushing their game (usually quail or chukars). Of course, they were using light birdshot and we were way out of range, so we almost found it amusing; but we always did report them when we landed. They would even shoot at game wardens. And they weren't all out-of-staters; many were locals who thought gunpowder and beer mixed well. So drones are just smaller targets moved into the suburbs.

There used to be a rumor around the gas station/general store at Pyramid about some chukar hunters coming south complaining that somebody had shot at them with a rifle north of the reservation border (I don't remember the name of the creek). Actually, we never flew that far north and there was NO way I was going to fly over that lake anyway, so it couldn't have been us.
UPDATE: Sand Creek; plenty of potholes great for duck hunting.
