It seems like most of the problems here has to do with Nikon. Now that I threw that out there don't get you panties in a bunch. I am not slamming Nikon. Is it because there are more Nikon users. I am not trying to stir up a pot I just wanted to know about the ratio in the Canon and Nikon and Sony users. I was thinking about finding an older Nikon and buying it to learn both sides Of the camera issue. It just a question. I kid about Nikon cameras but Nikon does make a good camera and I want to have some knowledge. I need to be learning things I can't just sit and watch TV all day when I can be learning about cameras. I do a lot of reading about all cameras, all cameras. It keeps my mind, what little I have going all the time. I don't want arguments just true facts. Thanks all...

It all depends on which ratio. Is it the U.S., worldwide, or just on UHH? they all vary greatly and you would be surprised at some of these results Just google your question and you will get a ton of responses to you question.

I have my first Nikon F from 1968 -- still works and is one of several still in use. After many years, just sent in my F2 for maintenance -- which is going to cost a huge $60, postage included. The cameras and lenses are excellent, sturdy long lasting. I am considering picking up an F3 and /or F4. Superb cameras can be had for very little with AI or non AI lenses. Cannot speak on Canon. The only failure I have ever had with a Nikon is the foam mirror bumper in the above mentioned F 2.

I have a Nikon D7000 I use strictly for birds and wildlife and a Sony Alpha 900 I use strictly for scenery. I like both cameras equally and have never had any issues with either other than the rubber/foam horseshoe eyepiece kept falling off the Nikon till I glued it on.

I have noticed that there seems to be a lot more active Nikon users here in the Main Photography Discussion forum. This is not anything other than my opinion. I know you have a great camera in the Canon that you own and I have been curious about them myself as a Nikon user. I am pretty sure that if I did buy a Canon, my shots would be about the same quality and all I would have done is spend money. I think investing in lenses rather than a different system is a better choice for me. How is that new macro lens working out for you, Bushy?

Been using canon for 35+ years and nikon for 25+ years and have never had a camera failure that couldn't be 'fixed' by reading the instruction book. I sold my D7100 but all the others still work fine.

I have owned and shot with Nikon, Canon, Sony, Pentax, Rollei, HP and I have not had any serious problems with any of them. Still have a '69 Nikon F with a motor drive. Still works! I find that knowledge is a good thing and does keep the mind sharp. Photography is a challenging hobby and one that you should always strive to go above and beyond your limits.

I have five Nikon bodies (4 digital and one film). I've never had a problem with any of them.
Now all I have to do is learn how to use them

In 1972, purchased a new Nikon F2 as my first DSLR, along with five new prime Nikkor lenses. That camera is now on my trophy shelf, but I still occasionally use the lenses on my D90 or D5200 (my sixth Nikon body). NONE of my Nikon equipment has required the attention of a camera repairman.

Canon, Sony, and Nikon are all excellent cameras. They all have some issues from time to time. It rarely affects more then a small percentage of any particular model. No matter which brand you buy to take apart, you will learn something. Which one you buy to actually use isn't really going to matter if you buy one with the features, capabilities, and feel that you want.

I purchased a Nikon F2 in 1972 - still functions perfectly - never any problems. I purchased a Nikon F3 with motor drive in 1983 - still have it - functions perfectly - never a problem. I dislike Canon because of some of their past business practices, but I have no reason to believe that their products are inferior to any other brand.

My macro lens is working great. I love it. I haven't been out a lot to shoot it like I want but from what I have shot so far it's great. I in no way cutting Nikon I was just curious about a couple of things. You have helped a lot. I am saving some money and will more than likely get another lens. Another camera is way in the future.
