If you don't need a tele, consider the Sony RX1r. I sold my A7r to order the A7rII which should come soon. I need that for Ballroom Dance and bird photography where a tele is a must.

But for travel I use the RX1. It is so small and light and the IS is so good you can crop extensively and still have good images for slide shows which is 90% of what I use images for. The autofocus is fast and accurate and the camera is a jewel.

What I REALLY like about the Sony lineup is the Zeiss lenses available. Sony-Zeiss, Carl Zeiss, AF, MF, and ZM lenses (with adapter) give beautiful images.

As a Sony A6000 user I will say the weak point of the A6000 series is that no battery charger is provided save the USB method that Sony shipped with the camera. This camera also eats batteries fast even if the Airplane mode is used. I guess I might be spoiled since I have been a Canon user for years and had such good luck with their batteries.
I did purchase a battery charger, a Vivitar pkg that came with the extra non OEM battery, the charge cycle is long. I really find myself having to keep an eye amount of charge remaining
If you wish to adapt you lenses to the Sony E-Mount take a look at this a comparison I found that compares the Metabones $399, and there are several versions http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTPM5U6fBDM. The Commlite adapter is about 1/4 of the price vs the Metabones.
If you have a specific question, good luck on getting an answer from Metabones the only provide e-mail tech support. I sent them a specific question about a specific lens and and adapter and have yet to get answer, the question was e-mailed to them back in Dec 2014.
Another gripe is if you want a more comfortable eye piece you have to buy it also and don't buy one buy two, they do not lock in place well. They are only $7.00 on Amazon it's just an aggravation
The Sony A6000 is one amazing camera given the price and I have just begun the scratch the surface and use all of the 135 programmable customer features Sony built into this camera

I share some of your issues!
While you have the A6000, try the Sigma Art range of E-mount primes; they are light, sharp, render colour well.
I find the 18-200 too large & heavy for comfort. If you can find a well-looked-after Minolta f4 70-210 you will find it lighter and optically as good as, or better than, the 18-200, though you will need the Sony L EA/4 adapter as well. And if you do acquire the a7Rii, the Minolta lens = adapter will work F/F with that.

The Zeiss 35mm f1.8 is a lens designed for aps/c cameras like the a6000. It can be mounted on a full-frame camera like the a7r or a7rii, but the image will be cropped. Sony full-frame lenses for e-mount cameras have the prefix FEnnnn; cropped lenses just hva the prefix Ennn.

Enjoy your A6000 - it is a great camera.

Just how much weight will you save with the Sony since it is still full frame? It is the full frame lenses that really start adding the weight. If I was taking the Nikon on the trip, it would be with a wide angle for shooting landscapes or night skies. Your little A6000 and a telephoto would give you much more reach for way less weight.

Has anyone preordered the new Sony alpha a7rii? Due out on August 5 at $3195. Have the Sony a6000 and love it. Specs for the new camera seem awesome. Any comments. Travel a lot and am considering buying a second a6000 or the new camera.

That's the problem. The new Sony full frame is almost double the size off the A6000, but the lenses are much lighter than the Nikon holy trinity. Am on the fence on this one. I always travel with two cameras. Either buy a second a6000 body, wait for the a7000 or go for the new Sony full frame. I know myself. The GAS will probably kill me until I get the full frame even though I do not need it.

Check out the A7ii. Have it and A6000. Also suffer from arthritis and gout. Take med for both so pain isn't too bad, will usually reach for the A7ii first.

I was looking at the A7ii. It certainly looks like a great camera. What are your thoughts? Half of the price of the new full frame and not much difference except for the megapixels, but that is not relevant.

A7ii is full frame. For landscape photography I've gotten some great shots with A7ii. The A7rii would be phenomenal, but as a hobby level photographer I personally am fine with the A7ii.

If you are talking about the Nikon lens here, then you can use any cheap adapter. I think that you can not autofocus it on the Sony, but I am not sure as I have not bought an autofocus adapter like Metabones or other similar.

Here is a link mentioning an upcoming adapter for the Sony A7Rii that will allow it to autofocus using Nikon F lenses. Not much is said. The name of the China manufacturer is not mentioned. But the comment is that it is almost ready for production.

I am watching the Sony rumors for the A6000/NEX7 replacement, which is supposedly to be called the A7000. If it is what the rumors are saying, it will be really something.

The rumors are saying new sensor with one shot HDR with 15.5 f-stop range and 5 axis stabilization.

Rumor mill says it was supposed to be released with the A7Rii, but they had a problem to fix. Best guess is now end of summer or early fall.

Really interesting about the rumoured A7000. All I could find was rumour and speculation, but it sounds very interesting. Really curious to see what comes of that.

Incidentally, Trey Ratcliff abandoned his Nikon for a Sony A7R, and now the RII. If you don't know the name he's worth a Google.

Perhaps we will know if the rumors are correct in about 8 weeks, or less? And for the bulk of what I do, it would be of greater value to me than the full frame A7Rii. I have the full frame Sony A99, and I only sometimes use the full frame.
