On Novemember 4 if God allows, I will be heading with my family to Las Vegas and from there to Sedona.
I like to plan ahead and I wonder if anyone that has been there or lives there could give me some advise in regards to things to do and places to photograph.
Any information will be most appreciated.

In Flagstaff Humphries Peak, Walnut Canyon Indian Ruins Sun Set Crater and the ice caves, The overlook at the north end of Oak Creek Canyon and the switch backs (Original wagon trail still observable), Lowell Observatory where the non planet Pluto was discovered, Slide Rock, A must see is West Fork!, Tea Pot Rock (A cliché of Sedona) a MacDonalds with green arches, Tlaquepaque (pronounced Tla-keh-pah-keh), Arts & Crafts Village, Chapel of the Holy Cross, See Bell Rock if you wish but a waste of energy, just drive by, Schnebly Hill, Montezuma Castle, Montezuma Well, City of Jerome Once the richest city in the nation per capita, Verde Valley,
This should keep you busy for a couple of hours. There is much more around there. If it is shopping then just hang around Sedona but in it self Sedona is rather pathetic compared to all that is going on around it except for the afore mentioned art village.
P.S. across from Cave Springs camp ground in Oak Creek Cnyon is a little known side canyon and trail that is fabulous and there are places in the cliffs where the pioneers in the 1800's carved their names and even an old rusted out model T in it from a long forgotten road that went into it.

Architect1776 pretty much summed it up. Depending on how much time you will have to spend there.

I'm a very big fan of The Grand Canyon. It's an impressive place, no matter how many times it's visited.

In Sedona go to the airport, which sets above the city, for a great overall view of the city and multi-colored mountains.

See Chapel of the Holy Cross which will also give you a great view of the surrounding area (the church is very pretty also).

You might want to take one of the jeep tours (I think they are pink).

If you have the time, another 100 miles, north of Sedona, is the Grand Canyon. PM me if you want more info about viewing the Grand Canyon.

If you are driving, and going along State Road 95 South. You will go threw a town called Searchlight. Approximately 10 miles south of Searchlight You will come to Route 163 East. This will take you to NP-20, also know as Christmas Tree Pass. A dirt road that will a left hand turn. Take that approx 1 mile, you take your first Left on that. What that will take you to is 2-3 thousand year old Indian pictographs.

I an not talking one or two, I'm talking 200 to 300 hundred of them, all on the face of a mountain pass. You could spend a few hours filling your chip up. It's an easy walk-in.

Wow! Lots of information, perhaps too much for a couple of days in Sedona. I want to thank you gentlemen for taking the time to help me. Thank you very much Architect for your informative comments.
I began to plan this early trying to make the trip a successful one since I have never visited that part of the country.
I am taking the family so I hope they will not interfere with my photography and I will not interfere with their business either.
Traveler I want to see that view of Sedona from the airport for sure. Bill I will try that Christmas Tree Pass. It sounds interesting.
I do not know if I will have the time to visit The Grand Canyon. Let's see if I can and I will PM you for that traveler.
Thanks to everyone for your kindness.

The Chapel is up above the main road into Sedona. From inside the church you get a great view of one of the iconic rock formations in the Sedona area. The Pink Jeep tours take you up into the mountains surrounding the area. There are a couple of different tours and they are very popular so it might be worth your while to look at their website and see if it is for you. The Sedona area was very crowded every time I have been there in the last three years (always in Nov or Dec) but there is an excellent information center in the middle of town across from the Pink Jeep tours and another of Sedonas best rock formations. Limited but free parking.

Isn't that a chapel that was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright?

The Grand Canyon is one of the greatest natural wonders of the world. If you have never been there and live far away, it would be a real shame if you didn't make time to see it since you'll be only a couple of hours drive away.

For some awesome petroglyphs just 18 miles south of Sedona go to the V Bar V Heritage site. Google it for directions.
