Sedona.
Photo Ops-Slide Rock park and West Fork just north of Sedona on 89A in Oak Creek Canyon (7 and 10 miles respectively). Red Rock state park. Lookout at Airport vista. Hikes- Soldiers Pass, Long Canyon ann/or Broken Arrow. Western dinner and show at Blazin' M Ranch in Cottonwood would be entertaining for family.
My wife and really enjoyed Sedona. You will love it. A good challenge will be capturing the red in the landscape. Early mornings and evenings probably the best time. If you only have two days, skip the Grand Canyon, it's an adventure on its own. Everything else Architect said it's right on. Ketone is fun, but I didn't see it as picturesque. They also fly hot air balloons at the West end of Sedona. They look great with the red rocks. Have fun.
Jerome, not Ketone😃
Breakfast at blue moon cafe. Sunset picture of cathedral rock. You will love Sedona. The drive in from 89A south is a must. 2 ways in to cathedral rock take the short way off 89A. Rich

Sedona and the "red rocks" is a tremendous example of why you should have a polarizer lens in your kit! You will definitely want to use a polarizer to bring out the colors of the red rocks!
I want to thank all of you for these descriptions. I am longing for Sedona and AZ again. One of the reasons I liked going there. I like it. After my first introduction back in the 70's on the Marine base in Yuma.
Thank you very much to all of you for the useful information.
Here is a Google earth view of Grapevine Pass off of Christmas Tree Pass Road.
Sedona is set right in the middle of what might have been the most beautiful national park in the country. Plan to just drive around town, north & west of highway 89A in the Coffee Pot Rock area and beyond. Every side road that you take will give you spectacular photo opportunities of red rocks. Schnebly Hill Road, Oak Creek Crossing, the airport, short hikes toward Cathedral Rock or Bell Rock, views of Cathedral Rock from several places, including the airport at sunset, the church mentioned previously, are all "must see" destinations, but they're all right in the town. Pink jeep tour is great, but you can also rent a jeep and they'll give you a map that takes you to the same places, but you can spend as much time as you want photographing various vistas. The best photo ops require you to do a little walking because there are so many houses in the way. You'll love the trip!
Hope you enjoy your trip to Sedona, AZ.
Lodging is much cheaper in Flag Staff then in Sedona.
Motels in Flag Staff are located at the East and West
ends of town. Down town places are older.
Tlakehpahkeh is like a Mexican village and full of great
photo opportunities.
Thank you for so much useful information.
