I've been hoping to photograph some scarlet tanagers, but as yet, I've never seen one. So I was pleasantly surprised when this male summer tanager showed up in front of my house. This is the first year I've seen this bird, and it is very skittish. I've only been able to shoot him through the window.

Nice shots. This looks like a very stern bird to me.

Donnie I always enjoy your photos but thank you especially for this one. I have never seen this bird. It's beautiful and you captured it so well.

Yes, and just as soon as he sees me, he is gone. Thanks for viewing.

Thank you Matt. That expression does look rather serious.

Thank you very much IBIJC. That makes me feel good to bring back a memory for you. I guess we have something in common. This is my first and I'm 70 also.

Thank so much cmc65. I'm so glad you liked them. That is such a great thing about this site, sharing information and photos. While I still consider myself a beginner, I've enjoyed and have been in awe of the work I've seen here, and also gained so much by reading others posts. I really appreciate you looking in and commenting.

Thank you for the very nice compliment. I haven't been able to hear him sing yet. I've only had a few glimpses of him, and lucky to get a few shots off. He disappears before I can get the door open. Hopefully he will return and sing for me.
