I am wanting a new camera, i am looking at a couple of older models, so i would like to hear opinions on my 3 top choices. I am a portrait photographer so that is the biggest factor in my choice. I am looking at the d300, d7000, and the f5200. I just cant seem to decide. I currently shoot with a d3300. I am suriously confused.
Thsnks in advance.

The first thing you should ask yourself is what the D3300 can't do, but you wish it could do.

Other than commander mode on the flash of the d7000 and d300, and focus motors on those two, what are you expecting to gain from going from the d3300 to any of those three?

I'd keep the D3300 and get a flash or lens.

If you are happy with the 3300, get another one. That way, no learning curve.

I would ask what does your CURRENT camera NOT do that you NEED it to do?

Exactly! And the other models you mention do not give you any advantage for portrait photography, which you say is your target. A full frame would move you up a notch in that area, but not another APS-C.

He was just rephrasing your question. The answer is that the other cameras in the list DO NOTHING for protrait photograhy that the current camera does not do. There is no reason for a PROTRAIT photographer to switch from the d3300 to another APS-C. As SS points out.

I am keeping what i have and going to re-evaluate my lenses. And possibly get some different studio.I have decided that if what i have works then i am just going to keep it. I love what i have now.

If you love it, then keep it. Are you still looking for a backup camera in case this one breaks or what?

I like having a back up so that when i am out shooting I can set both cameras up with a lens and i dont have to switch as often.

You must be rich if you are spending this kind of cash so you don't have to switch lenses.

Would you adopt me? :)

No not rich it just always seemed practical. I save up for my camera equipment and do months worth of research before i buy anything. I only came here to ask a simple question as part of my research before i make a large purchase. I would also be selling my current backup before purchasing a different one.
