Has anyone found a "Field Guide Book on the Canon 7D Mark II

Since receiving my new Canon EOS 7D Mark II, I've been looking for a better manual than the one inside the cameras package. I usually buy a book by Wiley Publishing, in the "Field Guide" format. I've looked on Amazon, and several other sites, but found nothing. It just be just to soon for them to respond to the demand.

I haven't seen anything about a field guide, but in the meantime Canon has some tutorials that may be of interest and help.

Check 'em out here:

This 7dll camera is not a 3ti. I have never used a field guide but is it possible that as a camera gets more into the professional realm, that field guides are just not printed for lack of demand? Do they make one for the 1dx? Just thinking out loud! ;-)

I looked on Amazon yesterday and there are a couple to be released next february and then in april. There is a fold up kind of sheet that seems available now.

Today, I called Wiley Publishing, those people print the "Digital Field Guide" series of books, and "Dummies" books. I've got the "Digital Field Guides" for 6D, 7D, and 50D. But, they don't have one available for the 7D Mark II yet. There are several you can pre-order, but will not be available for a few months or after the first of the year. The manual, from Canon, which is on the disk provided with the Camera is over 500 pages. I looked into printing it at a local printer, and the cost is over $300.00 in B/W. The small manual that comes with the camera is marked "basic", and it is really basic for such a complex camera. After downloading, and reading just the focusing section of the full manual, I can quote James Bond, "That's one hell of a box Brownie."

Try this. Might do the trick. I think it is a pre-order.

You're right, it is a pre-order. I've looked at Amazon, everything about the 7D Mark II is pre-order.

So what's wrong with the manual that comes with the camera??
That's all I've ever used. It's compact and concise. It has all the info needed to work the camera and is small enough to take up virtually no room in my pack.
But that's just me! ;-)

A quick look at Amazon and I see David Busch's Canon EOS 7D Mark II Guide to Digital SLR Photography. I was at Barnes&Noble yesterday and swear I saw one for 7DII but not sure if it was Busch's.

Yes it's there, but with a pre order only, due to be available in February.

I have thoroughly enjoyed and used David Busch's guides for the Canon 60D and 5Diii. The 5Diii book got pushed back several times before finally reaching the shelves. It was worth the wait.

So, for those of us waiting for Busch's 7Dii book, don't bet your house that it will be on the shelves in February. Busch is thorough, so the printer may say one thing and Busch won't risk his reputation of completeness and accuracy before he's ready.

Love ya SS but the manual that comes with the camera really sucks! It's a reference guide which assumes you know a lot of stuff. Those reads have there place , but as a tutorial which is often needed, it really bites! :) :)
