Rumors are that Nikon will be announcing an upgrade to their most excellent D 300s and D700 models with 24 MP versions designated D9300 and D750 respectively...
Right now I deciding which one I'll purchase.
The D750 with either a 24-70 Nikon or a similar lens out of the new Art Series lineup sounds good. I hear Sigma will announce the expansion of their groundbreaking Art lenses.
Canon has also come out with new Crop and Full Frame models ! I can't wait to see what Fujifilm has come up with !!

Sept. is going to be an exciting month.

Everyone is talking a D750 and D9300.
I can't for the life of me see why they would pick those numbers.
They don't fit in the Nikon numbering scheme as far as I can see.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if both of those numbers were wrong.

Oh ye of little faith...
BTW both numbers fit very nicely in Nikon's system if you really think about it.

Perhaps you can explain it to me then?

The DX cameras are currently D3300, D5300, and D7100. Adding a higher model would be a D8x00 or D9x00, so they went with D9300. I agree that D9000 or D9100 might make more sense, if a D7300 is not forthcoming.

The FX cameras are D610, D700, and D810, along with the single-digit pro D4-series. I think a D710 would connect it strongly with the D700, and they might not want that, so they "created separation" with D750, and are hoping that the bokeh is good enough that the D700 is in the soft background.

If this is a sequence , where did the D200 fit in. It was a DX..

This is the new numbering system, started after the D300s (also DX) and D90. It started with the D5000/D3000, the first 4-digit names, replacing the D40/D50/D60 models. Then the D7000 was added as the D90 update. We're still waiting for the 4-digit D200/D300/D300s replacement, the fictional D9300. :-)

I hear you . My current credit card bill is larger than my bank account. Fortunately it won't be due for another 3 1/2 wks. still will be too close for comfort. My biggest expenses are camping for a week at Oshkosh during the aviation convention and tuition for my photography class. My next bill will include 5x7 paper, B/W film, sleeves, maybe a decent tripod....

Thank you.. Well describedÂ….. With a D7100 working OK at the present, I shall wait breathlessly on the sidelines. Wallet away from the phone, and computer...
