photokina is the largest photography convention. it is held every 2 years in Germany. most camera and photography vendors announce new products at the convention. after the convention shutterbug magazine devotes a whole issue to new gear from photokina.

Photofina is not a convention where like minded folks get together to try to come to a consensus as to best procedures, products, etc., get drunk, get crazy and charge it off on taxes as a business expense.

Photokina is a trade show, or trade fair, or whatever, where everybody in the industry presents their newest and best products, trying to out-wow each other and generate a lot of sales, get drunk, get crazy and charge if off on taxes as a business expense.

All clear now? :)

Photokina is the Big Show every two years, held in Germany. It's all about every manufacturer showing what's new in their stable. It's about technology, competition, and pride. Photokina is a G.A.S. attack waiting to happen.

New cameras are always exciting. Once you get past the hype, you discover that what you have works just fine. The new D750 will shoot the same resolution as the existing D610. Consider what are the advantages and what is the additional cost. I am a Canon guy and have been holding my breath on the 7D replacement, but now I hear it will have a 20.2 sensor, which is not much over the existing 18 sensor on the 7D. So I will wait and see what the advantages are and the cost, versus full frame.

Rumors are that Nikon will be announcing an upgrade to their most excellent D 300s and D700 models with 24 MP versions designated D9300 and D750 respectively...
Right now I deciding which one I'll purchase.
The D750 with either a 24-70 Nikon or a similar lens out of the new Art Series lineup sounds good. I hear Sigma will announce the expansion of their groundbreaking Art lenses.
Canon has also come out with new Crop and Full Frame models ! I can't wait to see what Fujifilm has come up with !!

Sept. is going to be an exciting month.
Rumors are that Nikon will be announcing an upgrad... (show quote)

I read a lot...between 150-200 books a year. I've decided to keep my favorite 12 books. By the time I get through the 12th, I will have forgotten what happened in the 1st.

:-P ;-)

No, this is the international product roll out event for all manufacturers. Once every two years. That's it.
