I viewed the entire thing at Crown Point in the Columbia River Gorge. Very chilly with a buffeting wind. Unfortunately, I don't have enough telephoto reach. Still it was beautiful and worth the one hour during which I froze every extremity.

i went out at 5:20 am and tried to shoot it. what i saw thru my eye piece was in focus, but the longer i stood out there the colder it seemed. 14 degrees at the time.

after DLing the pix, i see that the clarity is not in the photos, and i can only guess that the cold set off a reaction to the warm lens and probably condensed it enough to where i lost focus.
Here's one.

It was a big let down to see the end results. There is always the next time, Maybe even wrapping the heating pad around it with a 100 foot cord to keep that baby warm and a electric blanket for me as well.
:)

Photographically, I feel the same; still glad I ventured out to see it. I'll be better prepared with the gear next time: both camera & clothing!

I was dressed to the Hilt, but after almost an hour and half out there, it found its way in.

Considering buying a window mount and sitting in the car next time with the heat blowing full blast.
Come on summer!

That could have been what happened to me too. 2 degrees here this am. Moon dipped below a neighbors roof pretty quick so that was my excuse to get back in and warm up!

Yes, I was doing a lot of daydreaming of a March cruise! I'm thinking my speed might have been too slow also. iso200,f7.1,1/160th,200mm,WBdaylight. Seems to me some moonshots I had success with were around there so not sure.

mine was set for Bulb mode, ISO 100 F5.6 exposure of 1.0 second.
i seem to take better pictures from inside the house shooting out than outside for that matter.

I got up about 5:30 and it was already at a crescent (in San Diego). However I started to lose it behind trees and houses. At full eclipse it became very hard to see because the sun was coming up. Here are my so-so shots.
