Jchet27, Did you do the download the EOS programs from the disk that came with the camera? I ask because I downloaded the utility from the web page a few weeks ago. The downloaded version did not work on the new 7D, but did work with my old 50D. Once I downloaded all the utilities from the CD everything worked fine. Enjoy your new camera, I sure am enjoying mine.
Bill... yes I did install the software from the CD and it asked to upgrade certain programs from the web but not sure if all were upgraded. I will try that tonight. Thanks for the info!
The first thing I do when I get a new cameras is to throw away the manufacturers CD.
Hello JChet27, Did you get the software to work? I found out the problem with my computer. I should have uninstalled the old versions before installing the new version. I guess the computer got confused. BTW, never toss the manufactures CD, as some people do. That CD carries versions that are bug, and virus free, and has drivers that may not be in the download versions. The drivers may not even be relative to your camera, but relative to your USB, card reader, or other software.

I'm enjoying my 7D. I achieved a basic comfort level with it pretty quick, but still with PLENTY of room to grow and learn at my leisure. It's very flexible and I'm enjoying the reprogrammable buttons. I wish the program dial would stop resetting itself though, and I'm not a huge fan of the joystick button but maybe that's just me being a klutz. I'm learning different ways to make the last-minute adjustments that I was trying to use the Q button for. I think it was the perfect choice for me.
