I am looking for opinions on different 'shirt pocket ' or a little larger 'super zooms' or compact lens system cameras.

I fly every day for work and want something to slip in the flight bag. The Leica M9 is the dream..but that is all it will ever be. Just bought the EOS 5DIII and a rack of L series lenses, so no more big spends!!
I do sometimes take the 5DII , but can't carry it and lenses in the cockpit.

So here is what I want:

Small compact..

RAW images

Full manual control
AV
Tv
Bulb
Tripod fitting
Remote (both wired and wireless nice). ( so I can use Intervalometer)

Fixed 'built in zoom' or Lens system.
Canon EOS M mirror-less would be too big.

Living on a small island ( Jersey) I have one store I can look in and they have a small range of cameras to look at.

Online research can play a part but just not as useful as searching in shop.

Neil - Sony RX100 or Panasonic LX7 - but do try to get one in your hands first. Sorry - no hands-on experience, but I believe they're close to your list of criteria.

I flew the "island hopper" from Guernsey to Jersey once - sat in the "co-pilot's seat" - loved it ! I think I missed my vocation !

Well, something small & compact (shirt pocket) would be a Lumix SZ-7 or similar, but doesn't meet much of your other requirements.

Canon SX50 would meet all qualifications except 'shirt pocket'

Both the Sony and the Lumix look the part, but neither have remote options..shame..ticks all the other boxes.

Can only find the Fuji SX100 IS, which seems a bit basic for my needs.

Whoops...it was the Fuji X100S that I was referring to and that seems to be right up your alley.

This is what Zach Arias had to say about it's predecessor:

Quote:
Let me get this out of the way… The Fuji x100 is the greatest digital camera ever made and may just be the greatest camera I have ever owned. You’ll have a hard damn time convincing me otherwise. I can state with confidence that this is my favorite camera I have ever owned. Period. End of story. Done. Best. Camera. EVAR. OMG. Etc. Note that I am not sponsored by Fuji, I have no relationship with Fuji, and I paid for this camera with my own money. I have nothing to gain in services, advertising, affiliations, or monetary value by writing this review.

Have at look at the Fuji range of cameras, they make some excellent pocket cameras with high specs.

You may have to compromise Neil - only other I can think of is the new Fuji X20 - http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/fujifilm-x20/ - also look on facebook for Photo Madd - he's a Fuji enthusiast. Have a read of this - http://www.photomadd.com/review/lens-fujinon-18-55mm-f2-8-4-r/

It was "Aurigny" that I flew on. Real flying !

Before you make the plunge, read some reviews and take suggestions from the forum. Don't aim too low when choosing a camera.

I have a friend ( a pro) who shoots with several Canon pro DSLR cameras. He also has the Fuji SX100is. He loves it! He does mostly photojournalsim. It has a fixed 35mm (equivalent) f/ 2lens, and he says the high ISO performance rivals his Canons. When I first saw it, I thought it was a Leica. Feels great in the hand too.
