It can just spiral, hence my initial thought of trying to see if there was a ' superzoom' built in lens camera wirh the spec I was looking for.

I just purchased a canon G15 to supplement my 7D. I believe the G15 will satisfy most of your requirements. It will fit in a pocket and has a lot of features found on the normal SLR. Raw images and low light capability was a high priority for me but the highest priority was a view finder. I am too old school to search around in live view looking for a good composition. Plus not steady enough to hold the camera with out stretched arms. The Nikon 770 was a strong contender also but does not have a view finder. One draw back with the G15 is CS5 does not process it's raw images I had to upgrade to CS6 for that feature. I expect to practice with my new G15 this weekend and will advise you on my hands on results. Having a camera that can be pocket carried will give me many more photo ops.

I would second this suggestion. Great camera. While the Canon SX 50 is also great, it really isn't a "shirt pocket" camera with its protruding lens, as is the case with some other suggestions. The G 15 is quite thin, however, you lose the great telescopic feature of the SX 50. The G 15 has a metal body and has a well-built feel to it.

The Canon SX50 and the FujiFilm SL1000 might be worth looking at. They both shoot raw and both have manual modes.
They are both bigger than shirt pocket size though. Just a suggestion.

Sorry NeilP

I saw the location posted below your Avatar and took it that you lived in New Jersey thinking you could go by a Bass Pro Shop here in the USA my mistake. I now realize you are located in the Jersey Channel Islands UK. But you may have something similar in the UK, any way best of luck looking for a small camera.

Ah, I see, i did wonder about the Bass Pro Shop reference. Although my address shows UK, I am not even in the UK exactly. Jersey is a small island 12 miles by 6 off the coast of France.
Only chance I have really is doing research for the camera now, getting a short list and the next time I go to to England or Europe/ France going to some big stores for a proper look.

Looks very much like what I am after does not exist exactly,so I am going to wait and see.
Lots of good camera suggestions, but as I already have a small selection of cameras that do not tick all the boxes, the is no sense in buying yet another that also does not

OK then Well as for the mention of the Bass Pro Shop they do have on online ordering for their clothing it's just a thought which you might want to take a look at it must be tough in getting things one would need from time to time on a small island the size you mentioned. They call them fishing shirts lot's pocket's tie up sleeves on some of the long sleeved ones. I have about six of them short and long sleeves for different weather conditions. And thanks for letting me know on the location of Jersey C.I.

These are the NEX-7 with the Carl Zeiss 24mm wide angle and the HVL-F20AM flash attached. ....There's also a 55-210mm that's lighter and a little smaller if you can find it.

Multiple components again.want an all in one to stop be being tempted to buy more parts that need carrying. I already have that sort of camera.
