May I make an observation? I've been hanging around the hog now for quite a while, and I just want to say 'Thank you' to EstherP! I've observed how you've answered so many questions for newbies, etc. and with such tact and right to the point, minus the smart-@#$' comments. It's folks like you who really help to build a site that one looks forward to returning to, so, for ALL you've helped -- THANK YOU!

Typical Canadian attitude if I may say so myself. Ray.

I agree with you about EstherP. A truly amazing person. I'm also one to throw around a lot of the "smart-@#$'" comments at times but I try to keep those confined to the "General Chit-Chat" area. It's just a personality defect of mine and I can't afford therapy.

I still haven't figured that out. I scan the negative, get a negative and reverse it with Elements 10. I don't guess it matters unless I'm losing some image quality.

What software came with your scanner?
With mine I got a program called Silverfast that I rarely, if ever use.
But also a program called Epson Scan. When I open that I can set the type of document:
Film: Positive (as in slides), Colour Negative, Black and White Negative.
If I pick one of the two negatives, the program automatically inverts it, and places the resulting image in the folder I told it to put.

I imagine the software for the various Epson models is not identical, as for my scanner I also have the choice of negatives with holder or without holder - but this is only needed because of the dual lens system mine has.

But I'd suggest you open Epson Scan and have a look at all the possibilities there.
Of course, importing into PSE directly also works great, and inverting the image is only a keystroke or two away...

In any case: Have fun scanning your negatives and posititives!

What software came with your scanner? br With min... (show quote)

I have used Epson Scan which came with the scanner and to honest I haven't had time to learn the software. Every time I try to "play" with the scanner I have interruptions. I have managed to scan some B/W negs, Kodachromes, and some old magazines I found while going through my dad's attic. Here's a couple of scans.
