You can simply add to your signature line stating that people can edit your photos without prior permission.

Here is the rule, you may wish to contact the administrator to tell him it's silly and should be changed. I am sure he will adequately explain the reason for it to you.

I updated the Pictures section's rules, and added this clause:
Quote:
- Please do not edit and re-upload other people's pictures without their explicit permission. In other words, you may not open someone's topic, download an image, edit it (that includes adjusting settings, cropping, adding/removing visual elements, etc.), re-post it, and say "here is a version of your photo that I like better" unless they specifically ask for it.

This goes into effect immediately.
If you mess with other people's photos without them asking, you'll get banned.

There are many who do not realise this which is why MOST photo sites have a check box in profiles so that it shows people can/not edit

SORRY..but right under the picture it said "Download" Will ask in the future.
Thanks for the "heads up"

Bigmac

That is why the "rules" are confusing.

There should be a section in MY PROFILE that you can click allowing or not someone to alter your shots

As I said, just add it to your signature line, easy as pie. :-D

Write to the administrator then, maybe he will change it for you. :-)

In October of 2009 my wife and I were attending a Lighthouse conference in Alpena, Mich and I saw exhibited there a picture of this lighthouse. I took a map and we decided to visit the new day. What we didn't know was you had to drive to country road 412 which was a two track road 25 miles north of Paradise, MI. It had snowed the night before and there was a storm coming in from Lake Superior. When I tried to duplicate the picture I realized the lighthouse and shore had been restored by a lighthouse preservation group. This is my favorite picture taken by a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5.

I would crop out the dark rocks at the bottom of the photo as well as that dark object at the left center of the shot. It could use some leveling and an adjustment of the exposure to brighten it a bit. Composition and framing is very good otherwise!!

I thought I had seen enough light houses but enjoyed the composition. As pointed out it could use a little editing. I enjoyed the discussion on the rules, I hadn't read the rules. Didn't know they exist but they are probably for the best.

I think most people post to get comments on their pics good or bad as a way to improve, but have seen too many times where someone alters a persons shot and posts it,the discussion turns to the altered pic,and the origional poster gets lost! I think if someone wants their pic worked on,they should say so,or if you really want to help them, not just show your own skills, ask them in a PM!

Very nice shot of CPL. I have been there several times and this year plan to shoot it at both sunset and sunrise.

I traveled to that same lighthouse in 2010, and the two track road seemed to go on forever! I took pretty much the same shot and could post it if anyone is interested. If you wish to visit this area, be aware...black biting flies are one of the less pleasant warm weather attactions to this area.

Very nice image. Thank you for sharing. ~Sue

As a former Upper I can say that is a trip to get to that light house. I like that shot and with slight cropping and adjustments like bigmac made I would like it even more. Like bigmac I was unaware of the rules regarding reposting until now. I was recently reprimanded and berated by an over zealous pro for my reposting an adjusted image that was not even his. There was no mention of any rules at that time. Now we know and I think we all really want to play fair.

I too like the photo, but I do like the rocks lightened a little to pop the colors.

It's too bad that we can't have a box to check for editing by others. After all, what a great way to learn but from others that have more experience in PP.

I grew up in the UP. There are many beautiful light houses.
This is a great shot. It does look cold.

First... Very good image!
I view this forum to enjoy what other perceive through their lens.
This is a "show & tell" forum where I believe many are looking for advice and encouragement to pursue better image making.
Verbal suggestions are the norm, but to have the ability to "visually show" your verb thoughts is priceless.
That said, here are my verbal visual suggestions...
Couple possibilities on editing... Keep shooting!
