In October of 2009 my wife and I were attending a Lighthouse conference in Alpena, Mich and I saw exhibited there a picture of this lighthouse. I took a map and we decided to visit the new day. What we didn't know was you had to drive to country road 412 which was a two track road 25 miles north of Paradise, MI. It had snowed the night before and there was a storm coming in from Lake Superior. When I tried to duplicate the picture I realized the lighthouse and shore had been restored by a lighthouse preservation group. This is my favorite picture taken by a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5.

Good clouds, water, sharp, focal points, textures

I would edit out whatever the thing is on the left, also the sea is running down hill, picture needs straightening

Thought you had a pretty good composition here but everything was just to underexposed.

A small adjustment in PSE 11 did the trick

Just be aware that on UHH it is against the Forum rules to work on someone else's photos and then re-post them. If you really want to do this, ASK FIRST!

BTW, I definitely like the first one MUCH better!

Beautiful photo, especially as lightened up by bigmac. You might want to experiment by cropping the bottom portion of the photo to eliminate the pebbles.

The UP of Michigan is beautiful at all seasons of the year. The shorelines and windflowers and snowdrifts are worth the time and the travel. The lighthouses are a bonus!

I prefer the second and think the rule is silly, we should be able to check a box if we are happy to allow people to alter shots

You can simply add to your signature line stating that people can edit your photos without prior permission.

Here is the rule, you may wish to contact the administrator to tell him it's silly and should be changed. I am sure he will adequately explain the reason for it to you.

I updated the Pictures section's rules, and added this clause:
Quote:
- Please do not edit and re-upload other people's pictures without their explicit permission. In other words, you may not open someone's topic, download an image, edit it (that includes adjusting settings, cropping, adding/removing visual elements, etc.), re-post it, and say "here is a version of your photo that I like better" unless they specifically ask for it.

This goes into effect immediately.
If you mess with other people's photos without them asking, you'll get banned.

I think Download does not imply "come and edit me". Some people download to analyze the settings and others just because they can. Thatbwould be OK, right? On the other side, I don't know why anyone would let it be downloaded without specifying use. Generally speaking you need consent to edit and then publish. This could be solved if the owner specifies why he/she makes it available to everyone.

That is why the "rules" are confusing.

There should be a section in MY PROFILE that you can click allowing or not someone to alter your shots
