An L-Bracket allows you to go from horizontal to vertical using a quick release clamp on your ball head.
Be sure the lbracket matches the clamp - IE arca swiss vs Manfroto - they don't mix.

There were no auto settings on the F2as. You metered off a nutral subject - Grass or asfault and set your exposure.
There is nothing to change this except you. Next go to your subject - compose, focus and shoot.

Thanks everyone for your input. My last camera was a Nikon F2as - Yes, I'm a dinosour trying to get back into the 21st century. In the film days I used substitute metering, as they calleded it in the Nikon School (today's AE Lock without the ae), all the time and thus my question as I'm now attempting to let the camera do some of the magic.

How does one work around this without switching to manual mode?
