Nice shots Frank. My peonies are great at predicting heavy storms too. Just about every year they bloom and then the storms come. Mine are still about a week away from blooming

Nice photo. Just be sure not to be jabbed by his proboscis. Looks like it would be quite painful

I have been painting since I was 4 years old (82 years). Painted every spare minute I had. I have taught art for 60 years. When students asked "When do I get to finally call myself an artist?" I told them "as soon as you finish your first painting!". I mean that! It may be bad art at first, but it IS art. Even bad art sells. The good part is that you improve with EVERY painting for the rest of your life. Nothing I ever painted failed to sell. So many of my students have become really good artists, but all are artists. None ever failed. EVERYONE can paint, some just don't know it YET.
Photography may take a little longer for some, but I have been a member here since 2011 and it has been amazing to watch the improvement of so may members here. So many have gone from good to fantastic! Sadly, mine hasn't improved as much as I'd like but that's OK. I'm happy for those who have improved so greatly. To me it's all art.

I haven't been here as long as you but I sometimes click on a name and look at their earlier posts and am amazed and encouraged by their improvement over the years. I look at my photos over the past several years and see improvement, even if it's not obvious to others I see where I've grown and that's what's important to me

I started photography by taking what looked like interesting artistic photos in film.

Then I became a wedding and portrait PHOTOGRAPHER in film. Here my work started to blur into art. People never liked their photos and always wanted to look better so I had to arrange light conditions which avoided any stark looks.

After about 6 years as a wedding/portrait PHOTOGRAPHER, I was essentially burned out, and only took travel photos and photos of the kids, returning to being just a photographer.

With the advent of digital, and then increasingly complex digital editing, my photography became PHOTOGRAPHY again. And now, people look at my photos and the first thing they say after “Oh WOW!” is, “Nice Painting....Oh wait, that’s a photograph.... I wonder how he did that."

I have moved into ART. My photographs are the way I want to see the subject, not necessarily the way it is in fact. Mirrorless, focus merge, and extensive digital editing allow me to do this. And, in my mind, I became a PHOTOGRAPHER once again.

Up until now I was unfamiliar with your work. I just checked out several of your posts. You are most certainly an artist. You're an inspiration to me if no one else.

Thank you Mike. Are you back home already? Or just viewing and commenting for now until you come home and post some pix from your vacation?

You don't know how that warms my heart to hear. Jesus said "it is more blessed to give than to receive" and I've received much more from this section than I've given.

One thing I forgot to mention though is I mix 2 or 3 eggs in with the cheese. I don't know if that makes any difference in cooking the noodles or not. I mostly do it to add a little protein since I'm not using meat in this dish

Sounds delicious and you presented it well, Jimmy. Cooking is good to know when you’re single and when you’re married.

Yes it is. You never know when knowing how to cook will come in handy. And thank you for the compliment

I just read that canned tomatoes can be better than off season fresh tomatoes because canned are processed at the height of freshness. I have not used canned tomatoes so I thought that was interesting.

I always use canned tomatoes in my sauce. But they don't do well for sandwiches

Sorry Jill. I just noticed I responded to your post without quoting. At least I mentioned you by name so hopefully you got my response

Thanks Jill. In season I may use fresh spinach, but quality frozen spinach is at least as nutritious. Even fresh veggies lose nutrition by the time they get to you table. If they're frozen immediately after picking they retain that nutrition. At least that's what "they" say.

I'll never tire of your wildlife photos. The first one I thought the kit was looking lovingly up at his/her mom. But the way the paw is raised maybe he had some mischief on his mind. All are very nice though. Please keep them coming

Great photos. If you weren't in Australia I would have thought the Fire Bug was an Eastern Milkweed bug that is common here in New Jersey USA.
