Yes, well worth the trip to St. Augustine. Great egrets start hatching out in late March. Also, a trip to J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island is a must. I was there before I got interested in photography and birds and would like to go back soon.
Thanks. You should definitely visit J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island. I've been there but it was before I got interested in photographing birds. I hope to return there soon.
Such a peaceful scene, thanks for sharing. It reminds me of the sheep farm I grew up on in western PA.
nice shots and variety, thanks for sharing
The birds in the rookery are completely wild--they are not fed or interacted with in any way (except with photographers!).

Thanks. I love the stubby little wings, which will grow bigger and more beautiful some day...
I recently visited the Sylvan Heights Bird Park in Scotland Neck, NC the home to the word's largest collection of rare and endangered waterfowl. Sylvan Heights has over 2,500 birds from around the world and is an organization dedicated conservation, education and research. And it's a fun place to visit.
Black Swans are the only swan native to Australia. They are not as territorial as other swans and will nest in colonies

Alyn...Have to make something out of them, right...maybe you were haunted too!
The first I call "Angel" because of the spread wings behind the bird at the feeder. The second called "Surrounded" is a finch coming at me surrounded by dark bird-like silhouettes. The fact that these are not in focus adds to the "haunted" artistic aspect, I think.
Yeh, you're right. I haven't figured out how to be more inconspicuous. I need to be outside and still and maybe camouflaged!
