Exactly. My D5300 is practically the same as the D3400; just a few extra gizmos!

I like to check local sale sites, Craigslist, FB Market place, etc. Most, at least 90% of the Nikons are D3200 with a few D3000, D3300 and D3400. Prices range from $139-$350. Is there a reason so many people want to dump the D3000 series? Found a D40 and a D70 at around a $100, no single or triple digit series.

I bought a D3500 bundle (18-55 VR, 55-300 Non VR), but returned it; the Ad showed both lenses with VR. That was an issue because the D3XXX & 5XXX have No VR in the body, so VR lenses are needed for stable zoom reach.
I upgraded to a D5300, Nikon 35mm prime & 55-200 VR, & a Tamron 18-400 VR.
I Rarely shoot in AUTO mode; I use A, S, or P mode, depending upon the scene or desired effect. There was a learning curve jumping from SLR to DSLR and the D3XXX & D5XXX are menu driven for adjustments, which can be irritating.
For a light, APSC sensor 24MP camera, the results you can achieve, with some skill, are quite impressive!

This is a great photo! I love how the shadows and contrast do enhance the texture (altitude) on the far right side. Definitively a superb moon Starman441!

Thank you Dan. 😎 I have been trying to hone my craft on the Lunar shots. I will post my shots of other "Super Moons" that I previously shot. BTW, I've had to cut back about 3-5 degrees rotation on the focus ring from "∞" for the sharpest image. I'm going to re-set lens back to 'factory specs' with my "Tap-In" & see if that helps.

Terrific set. Based on photos I've seen on UHH it's now on my bucket list

Great series! You sure put a lot into it, & well worth it! The "903", in the last shot reminds me of the old "F.E.C." Railway passenger locomotives I marveled at as a young boy.

Enjoyed watching the Hot Air Balloons at the Seymour, WI Hamburger Fest. For those who may not know, Seymour is the birthplace of the Hamburger.

Great set! My favorites are 2, 4, & 6. Hot air baloons are the Best. I helped a team get airborne many years ago, west of Atlanta, Ga. What a great experience.

Adorama contacted me via email about purchasing used equipment. I was willing to sell then a Hasselblad H3D II 39mp kit. I had purchased the body, prizim, and back from them a couple of years ago for $3495 . I had added a 80mm lens, Imagebank, extra batteries, AC power adapter and a zero halibuton case. i have shot less than 500 images with this camera since purchase. There offer was a $1000 for the whole enchilada. The lens alone is going for 800-1100 on ebay. I understand they have to make a profit but this is kind of excessive, other photogs at UH I'm sure have used them, are yall ok with taking this kind of beating and is this standard procedure from the used equipment buyers?

Any re-seller will offer less than an end use consumer. They need to make a profit from the transaction. However, to offer you 25% of your purchase price is ludicrous. Cut out the middleman, and sell direct to a 'keeper' instead of a 'reseller'. KEH & Adorama are good purchase outlets, but I would never sell gear to them. I always sell direct to the consumer.

I believe that it will not tilt in the 3rd axis which is a big problem.

Thanks for the reply. I know it won't tilt to 90°, so No portrait mode. Not an issue for me. I was thinking that, for the < $40 USD investment, I get a ball/fluid head & more stable carbon fiber legs than my older Velbon 450. Mainly interested in user/owner quality reviews.

It would be more versatile than a standard photo head, with the ball mount and fluid drag. It would be handy to have to shoot videos as well as photos. Do you see any drawbacks for photo use?

It has been around 90* around the ponds here. The birds aren't helping as my technique is to walk slowly and when I disturb the dragons, wait and see where they land, then ease up on them. As soon as they fly, often as not they will be snatched up before I get a chance. So, I moved up the hill into the woods where there are quite a few small springs and it is at least 10* cooler. The lighting was uneven, but I found a few that worked out ok.
The Meadowhawks were all teneral and probably S.pallipes. The Striped Meadowhawk.
The Spreadwing, I believe is Lestes congener, the Spotted Spreadwing. Named for the tiny spots on the lower abdomen. They show up clearly when downloaded. The girl eating the moth and the other I am not sure of.

A couple of the shots are similar, but with different backgrounds. This is a result of moving slightly when shooting, so as to get a different effect.
