This mountain stream is nears Cades Cove. My son and I were on a fall camping trip and stopped near here for a quick lunch and a few photos.

Recently, my son and I went camping in Michigans Upper Peninsula. One of the highlights of the trip was a boat cruise along the southern shore of Lake Superior to Pictured Rocks National Seashore. The trip travels for 16 miles along colorful sandstone cliffs as high as 200 feet. We also passed an old lighthouse dating to 1868. The seashore is also accessible from numerous hiking trails. If you are ever visiting the UP make sure not to miss this beautiful area.

From a recent visit to Great Sand Dunes NP in Colorado. An amazing 755 ft. high at its highest point. Visitors look like ants climbing to the higher reaches, where some of the younger set use snowboards to make the descent. A little known NP compared to others but worth a visit if you are in that area of the country.

Here are a few photos from a recent trip to Mesa Verde NP. Due to Covid, some areas and not open and no tours of the ruins are available. Still, there was plenty to see and enjoy and the crowds were very lite for summer.

Thanks for the very interesting additions to this post Mike. BTW - discovered your website a few years back and really enjoy your work. My wife and I love the area and have visited a few times since retirement. I used your postings on fall color to time our last trip to try and catch some fall color.

The best directions I can supply would be to head East on Antelope Flats road from Rte 26/89 (main road leading thru park). You will pass the Morman Row Barns. When it dead ends turn right. A few miles down the road you will pass a turn off to the Teton Science School on your left. Keep going past that a few miles more to the next road on your left. That will be Gros Ventre Road - turn left and follow that until you see a small pullout area on your left large enough for maybe 3 cars. The cabin is visible from there as I recall -just a short easy walk. Good luck!

This location is east/southeast of Mormon Row. Cannot recall names of roads as this was a couple years back. But I do know we went east on Antelope Flats road until it ended and then turned south for several miles. I found it, at the time, by searching for directions online.

Here are several more to add to my previous post of photos for this location. These were from two separate visits on the same trip.

This is part of whats left of the movie set for the motion picture "Shane' filmed in 1953. This location is off the usual beaten path of popular tourist stops in the Grand Teton NP, but worth making an effort to track down if you are in the area.

The Columbia River Gorge is a beautiful area to visit. Just east of Portland Oregon along the Columbia River are some picturesque waterfalls. The most accessible is Multnomah Falls at over 600 ft. high. I took these photos on my first trip to the area in 2007.

On my family first visit to Yosemite in early June of 2010, all the waterfalls were raging due to a heavy winter snow pack in the Sierra Nevadas that year. My son and I got a close up look of Vernal and Nevada Falls on a hike up the Mist Trail. Thought I would share several photos from that trip. Its was one of my favorite Father/Son experiences ever.

I hope you get to make that trip. Lots to enjoy in that area. Don't forget about The Badlands NP just to the east of Rapid City.
