It seemed like a pretty fair deal. Mint condition with box, bag, manual, both caps, and hood. $265. Although I still wonder if it should AF on my body. If so, I guess it would have a broken AF.

Believe me, the Tamron 90 mm f2.8 is an excellent macro lens and it doubles as a portrait lens. If you have nothing against manual focus keep the lens.

Yes. I agree. I may just keep it and shoot old school for awhile.

I have that lens and I like the MF/AF clutch. If the ring is pushed forward it should focus. Now when you say it won’t focus do you mean it doesn’t do anything or it hunts and can’t find focus. If it’s hunting you might want to check the focus limit switch.

It does nothing. One of the focus points flashes red. I also have a Nikor 85 prime and it autofocuses with no problems on the d5100.

But the lens has a built-in motor, so will autofocus on a D5100. I’m not familiar with the camera, but it appears that there is no AF switch on the body so it may need to be set up up in a menu. The manual should explain how to do that. If it still doesn’t autofocus properly, there could be a problem with the contacts, or in the camera or lens.

That's kinda what I was thinking. I'll look into the menu. Thanks.

Thanks Paul. I would have bought a better lens but my wife doesn't want me spending a lot of money right now.

I'll have to look when I get home tonight. Not sure.

The lens has an in/out clutch mechanism, so I have that box checked. I don't see any focus switches on the body.

I just bought a macro lens for use on my Nikon D5100. I will mainly use it for macro shots but may occasionally use it for portraits. The body of the Nikon does not have an AF motor but the lens (Tamron sp af 90mm f/2.8 di macro) does. The problem is that I can't get the lens to autofocus. It works fine in manual. Any ideas?🤔

My share size is set to the same value (2048 pixels) and I have a paid account. Apparently that is the current size limit for everyone.

That seems to be the consensus. It might have something to do with my TCL/Roku tv, but I've checked the settings and can't seem to find anywhere to adjust for image size.

When I view the Flickr photo stream from images posted by other subscribers, I see full screen pics as well as much smaller ones similar to mine. I don't know:/

Hmmm. Ok. I use Flickr on two different TV's. The 4k set is through the built-in Roku. My other tv uses a Roku streaming stick and the display is 1080p. The images on the 1080p set fill the screen and almost seem oversized.
