I have a Canon 6D Mark II and I am considering buying a Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II for use during upcoming trips across the U.S. and a trip next month to Italy. It would be used mostly for landscape photos but also family photos. I am interested in hearing from anyone who has this lens and their experience using it for my intended purposes. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and comments.

Thank you for all of the information. Before purchasing the camera, I confirmed with Abe's that is was not grey market (which would have been less expensive) and that I do have a one-year warranty on parts and a 90 day warranty for labor. I was hesitant to buy from them so I called and spoke with them before buying the camera. Looks like I should have followed my gut and bought the camera from Adorama, which is where I have purchased all of my other equipment, and not tried to save money. Live and learn! Thank you again.

Thanks to everyone who replied with their thoughts and suggestions. I have followed the various ideas and suggestions today and so far I have not seen a recurrence. I'm going to give it a few days and see if the problem returns before going to battle with Abe's. Thanks again to this community. I have learned a lot from following the digests and I appreciate the help provided.

A red-breasted sap sucker. I saw it on Joint Base Lewis-McChord which is just south of Tacoma, WA.

Was the Canon 6D MK2 a new purchase? Who did you purchase the camera from?

I purchased the camera new from Abe’s of Maine.

I was shooting JPEG. If the culprit is corrupted software/firmware in the camera, what is the fix for that?

Thanks for the reply, but I was out in an open field for all of the shots, both those with the white band and those without.

About a month ago I purchased a Canon 6D MkII to replace my 80D. Since then, I have used the 6D exclusively and have been quite pleased with the results. Today I was out looking for an interesting subject to photograph and came across an interesting looking bird. I took 117 photos and when I downloaded them to my computer tonight, 16 of the photos had a horizontal white band, of differing widths, along the left edge. I use my camera daily and this has never happened before. I have posted one of those photos to show what I am talking about. The photo was shot with the 6D and a Canon 70-300 mm lens. What caused the white band? Is it a problem with the camera? the SD card? the photographer? I used the following settings: Aperture-priority; aperture 5.6; shutter speed 1/640; ISO 200; focal length 300mm. I appreciate any insights anyone can provide.
