Did you adjust the dioptries in the viewfinder? Since you’re focusing manually, you might see something clearly but the lens will “see” something out of focus if not adjusted correctly.

I found out that is no longer the case. Most of the Fujifilm cameras are now made in China. The changes were made about 2 years ago.

oh right, it's been a while since i got my x100f.

in fairness, back in the DVD days (which was included in another discussion), some piracy dvd's had the same or higher quality than the so-called "original" DVDs, which were also made in China and had an excellent quality.

Imagine your life as a successful photographer. What camera are you holding?

haha, you're mean to all of us non-professional photographers :D

to answer your question, you've got to hold the camera of the manufacturer who sponsors your work.

I hate Canon cameras but if I need a new one I would have to buy a Canon. Canon is the only one that still makes large number of their cameras in Japan.

Err 20 is a Mechanical malfunction within the mirror, shutter or aperture mechanism (most likely), some sort of
disturbance, error or lock-up has been detected. This error code doesn't specify where the exact problem is, but points to the cause being mechanical rather than an electronic gremlin.

Hi. My name is Rick. I’m the owner and lead technician at Discount Camera Repair and a member in good standing here at the UHH. I’ve been doing repairs for other members here at greatly discounted rates and would be glad to help.

I'd be more than happy to repair the camera for you and keep the cost as low as possible. If you’re interested, please respond by private message.

Hi Rick, thank you, I'd love to send the camera for repair, however, I am based in Mexico, so shipping across borders would be an issue.

I'll try to find something locally this weekend. Happy holidays!

Thanks Bill. I’ve tried repairing things myself and must admit I usually end up making it worse 🙂

Hello guys,

This morning I tried using my camera in video mode. It turned out ok, then I received the err 20 message. the mirror wouldn’t go back to its position although I’ve already tried removing the battery, swapping lenses and turning on and off the camera several times. I can hear twice a moving sound when I try to turn it on.

Anyone here ever faced this error? Living in a small city northwest Mexico does not make it easy finding an authorized canon repair center and the camera is way out of warranty.

Thanks in advance for any insight. Stay safe.

Fujifilm X100F or X100V or X100? for newest but I dont think the menus are easy. What is you limitation or handicap?

I have had a X100F for a couple years now. Some of my favourite photos were taken with it. I think it’s super easy to use. By now its price should be around $1,000? Definitely less if used.

Few folks under about 35 care about DVDs. I’m 65. I have two DVD/VHS players on our TVs, and several burners to plug into computers. But I probably play 1-2 discs a year, and no tapes.

I burned one DVD video last year, from Final Cut Pro on my iMac.

Yes, some folks do cling to the past. It’s what they know, and they get very uncomfortable around new technology.

When I trained Census enumerators last August, I had a newly-retired attorney in my class. He was a flip phone user, who FREAKED OUT at the iPhones used by the Census. He quit on the spot, sadly but fortunately, for all of us.

People like that probably wish milk came in cream separator bottles delivered to their doorsteps, too.

Apple just released four new iPhones a few hours ago. The pro models can record and edit 4K video in Dolby HDR video, and upload it via 5G to the Cloud. Those phones have Apple “systems on chips“ with 11.8 BILLION transistors in them.

It’s an Internet world...

I turned 40 this year, I'm still for DVDs, actually that's what I use my PS4 mainly for. I wish milk was still delivered to my doorstep in cream separator bottles. I wish people would still interact as they used to and send SMS instead of whatsapp or messenger messages, or even better, use the stupid phones (as opposed to "smart" phones) to make phone calls!! I wish there was more privacy in this IOT world. I wish that people took seriously the scientific studies that have shown the negative effects of health from radiation and not jump on the first 5G phone they can grab a hold of. I wish I could still have a walk to the video store to pick up some DVDs for the weekend instead of sitting around in my couch looking for something to watch for hours and hours but not finding anything interesting. I wish people would sit at the table and talk instead of just scrolling on their phone screens. But most likely the world will never be again that way.

Anyway, it is what it is.

Regarding the main topic, you could use a Linux-based computer and try ffmpeg to create your DVDs. Most Linux distros are and always will be free.

will they create cameras that can give Harry Potter - like photos? that'd be revolutionizing. adding more MP, more stability and more of the same in such a saturated market just won't make it.

Initially, the v4 software was limited. But, that was years ago. The software has been updated to cover all digital EOS cameras going back to even the EOS D2000/D6000 models that wrote their RAW to files with 'TIF' extensions, even through those files were RAW rather than TIF format. Visit your local Canon.com website and download the latest software, now v4.12.60. You just need a valid EOS s/n to enable the download. Any camera type will work, as long as a valid number format.

Clearly I am a bit outdated :)
