The best way to approach this would take a bit of work, but the results would be worth the effort. Meter the dark areas of the scene and set the exposure to place those areas in Zone III. Then, adjust your developing time to produce the necessary densities such that the brighter areas are in Zone VII or VIII.

If you are not processing the film yourself, make sure you request the various developing times to achieve the negatives you need.
