I went to the same exhibit. (twice - first time was the same day Big Tex burned) My favorite was the shot of the boat overlooking White Rock Lake just after sunset with the Dallas lights on the horizon.

I buy most of my phones on the open market, not from cell phone companies. All my phones are unlocked from day one, and most have two sim card slots. My other criteria is the phone camera. Right now, my cell phone has an IR camera that I really like.

In the "settings" area under SIM cards you can choose which one to be default, or set it up for me to choose which one to use when making a call. Right now I have two domestic SIM cards and I'm trying to determine which one gets a better signal in my area. When I travel, I buy a 30 day SIM card for whatever country I'm visiting. That gives me a local # and access to however many GIGs of data I buy. Then I just set the default based on whether I'm travelling or heading home.

When they closed the road we were fortunate enough to be near the parking lot of the Skaftafell Park Information Center. That meant access to restrooms during the 3 hour wait. And the staff put out a couple coffee pots. 32 meters per second wind speed converts to 71.58 MPH.

I have a lightweight tripod I've taken to Iceland a half dozen times. Some trips I used it continually, other trips I never took it out of the carry bag. Last year I just used the monopod option.

Wind can be a serious hazard. A couple years ago Hwy 1 Ring Road was closed due to the wind. My wife and I spent about 3-4 hours waiting for it to re-open. (before they shut the road down, I saw several cars that were blown off the road) When you have those kind of winds, a tripod won't help. You know it's gonna be a windy day when you walk out of the hotel and you suitcase levitates.

Typically, at night the winds will generally die down and you can use a light tripod for the northern lights.

Even for those who seldom, if ever, have any creative notions cooking between their ears, they can imagine themselves more creative if their "creative process" involves an excessive amount of process.

Unfortunately, "process" is not the creative half of the term "creative process". IOW more process tips the balance AWAY from creativity.

Theres nothing creative about spooling up film reels, mixing chemicals, loading or unloading cameras, etc. Worse yet is a life tied to the need for darkness, plumbing, and ventilation. Analog photography is a ball and chain, not a liberator of creative minds.

But it's very satisfying to see an image form on a blank sheet of paper or film.

Interesting: The ingredient in the bag of Turkey testicles is Chicken testicles! I can see it now -- mom sends her 12-year-old to the store to buy Turkey testicles and comes home with this. The kid gets raked over the coals for getting chicken, not turkey!

I had some Turkey Fries at a convention in Des Moines, IA back in the 70's. They were delicious, very tender. (I guess they were never used)

VZ does offer international service at $10/day. Just having your phone on without use, triggers the automatic daily charge. eSims are lot cheaper, but I am unclear about their limitations as per my original questions.

I use the old fashioned physical Sim card. My (unlocked) phone has two Sim card slots. When I travel to Canada, I get a thirty day Canadian Sim card from Phonebox.com for about $30 US. When I travel to Iceland I renew my Vodafone Iceland number for about $30 US. Much better than spending $10 a day to get international roaming.

Back about 30 years ago, I slipped off a small cliff into Lake Superior. I had an Canon Elan IIe, and it was briefly fully submerged. I was visiting my sister at the time, and took the lens off and put everything into her oven at the lowest heat setting. I took it out of the oven every five minutes or so, and let it cool. After about an hour, I put the battery back in and everything seemed to work OK. Only major problem I noticed was that the 'eye focus' did not seem to be as responsive or as accurate as it was before the dunking. (and I had some pretty good black & blue places from bouncing around the rocks on the way down - but they faded quickly)

I used to own some Bethlehem Steel stock . . . maybe 60+ years ago. It wasn't doing so well so I sold it. Since then they are long out of business. Now I read that a Japanese concern is negotiating to buy US Steel in this country. There are some political misgivings about this country no longer have a thriving steel industry . . . just in case we get into another world war and need the steel industry like we did during WW2. What do you think?

I agree totally. Our benevolent government basically shut down the US steel companies when they allowed foreign companies to dump their steel here and undercut US prices.
