Down here, gravy is serious business.

If the flower was totally in focus I would like this photo.
I would have liked it to be fully in focus as well. I'm still working out the sweet spot on my new lens.

Not too sure what you were doing with #2

Mostly just taking a picture of the husband. This one was done with my phone. In color, it was kind of meh, but I really liked the textures when i processed it to B&W. I should have shifted to the right a little so his arm wouldn't have been cut off, but then i would have lost some of the bricks.
A certain parental unit says I have come down with a disease referred to as GAS. Something to do with buying new gear...
I went on an adventure to my local camera shop yesterday morning and ended up with a new 40mm lens. Which, of course, I had to play with. I have ornamental sage plants on either side of my front steps that put out these lovely purple flowers. It was raining all day yesterday, and in between downpours, I was able to capture the raindrops on the flowers.
I've always been fascinated with macro photography and seeing the minute details on everyday objects that we normally don't even notice. But I'm just a beginner at all this, so any suggestions for improvement in technique are welcome. This photo is un-retouched, but I will gladly take tips on what changes might make it better.
Thank you!
Thank you! I have soooooo much more to learn!

Nice start, you'll get there.
Welcome to the forum.
Oh, wow. Thank you so much!
@kenievans
Ok maybe baderging was too strong a word. I notice you did not deny nagging though....
Thank you, Linda! The subject of #4 is my grandad. I actually had that on printed as a Christmas gift for my mom.
I also tend to use Dutch Angles a lot. I just get a kick out of them.
Thank you! I'm partial to #2 myself, but only because I'm married to him!
Hello all!
After much nagging and badgering from my mom, kenievans (who is an active member of the forums here), I finally joined. I am a complete beginner when it comes to photography. I shoot with a Nikon D3000 or my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 phone. I don't do much processing beyond just making a color image black and white or adding a filter here and there, but that's just because I have no idea what I'm doing. I look forward to interacting with everyone and I hope to learn a lot.
Here are some of my favorite photos that I have taken with either my camera or my phone.
