Haven a look at Page 471and 492 - Setting the printing options.
If you are a Windows user FastStone is excellent and easy, So much so I have sent a few dollars every year. It's free for home use but good software should be recognised.

You can also set the position, font, size, colour and opacity.

yes, that is for printing... I want to put the data on the jpg so that it is available (visable) when scanning the disk. but thanks.. I almost never go back to the printed photos, but just run thru "negatives" on the disk. My "photo album" is a 1 tb hard drive..., if my photo album was paper, I could just write the date on the photo.. One way which does work is the Canon DPP software, you can see the photo and the xef data on the same screen, but that doesn't work when I mail a usb drive to a relative, they dont have the dpp software. It's always a problem trying to get dates from slides or prints.

Sometimes slides have a date printed on the cardboard holder, but it's the processing date. At least it tells you that the picture was taken before that.

The best thing to do is to write on the back of the print or the cardboard holder of the slide. Best done at the time you get the prints/slides from the processor, but it can be done any time.

WHAT ARE SLIDES??????

what started this off is most of my old photos on the computer came from scanned slides & I was looking thru them and realised how often I wanted to know how old my children were when this slide was taken. I went from there to "fixing the problem" in the future, not realising that at my age, there really is no future. I tried some of the above mentioned software before throwing in the towel. Was an interesting adventure though, thanks everyone.. Ed

the mirrorless requires a lens adapter to go from the 5 IV camera lenses, I assume the same from the II. i stuck with the 5 IV. (if it works, don't fix it) Ed

looking thru about 8-10 k photos over the last 60+ years I am ready to give in. Does anyone manufacture a digitalcamera that will put the date ON the photo? or software which will batch process adding the date later from saved data?? It should not take a rocket scientist to write software to add any of the Xsif data to the field of a jpg.. thanks..Ed

Can someone tell me why many real estate pictures are so distorted? As an example a picture that shows a microwave oven, range or TV will show that it is much wider than what you know it to be. My thought is that they are using a very wide angle lens. I believe it is very bad practice to do this. There must be some type of compromise that the photographer could use.

real estate photography is mostly (I guess) inside, (rooms) therefore a wide angle lens is required, you want to show as much of the room as possible. no surprise.. Ed

I used https://www.collage.com/ for two puzzles, one of which was 675 pieces. They did a fine job.

yeh, & I have used them to put family photos on coffee mugs. good outfit & when you get on their mailing list they keep running specials. They put photos on all kinds of things and do quite well. Check 'em out. I think they could put a photo on the oil slick of the Queen Mary...
