Enjoy the cruise! I've done several on the Rhine and there's a lot to see. The castles are fabulous, but you'll need some reach in the camera to get good shots of them. And less for the shore excursions. Your D7200 should be a fine tool for the job.

Yeah, for sure, went from Kiev to the black sea in 2018, the Dneiper River viking tour. I loved the riverboat format!

LOL! Switch lens or stand back.
Terrible problem to have....

I know, comes from a previous small sensor camera. I should remember to compose first, with an eye for space in the frame! Hopefully a Rhine Viking trip in August will yield good images!

Nice! That’s a big bird too. I have the opposite problem, ever since I switched to the Nikon D7200, I stil tend to fill the frame and limit my composition options. Missed out on some golden opportunities!

For a subject that is approx 1 inch depth 22 images (slices) is adequate but I would normally use around f/8.

I have not had a lot of luck using PS and use CombineZP which is a free program.

To help diagnose what has gone wrong I would suggest two things,

a) Scroll through the 22 images on the screen and see if anything 'jumps' out as being out of character with the rest.

b) Use just 2 or 3 of the images to stack and see if you get a 'clean' result, which of course will have a very shallow DoF but should appear good with no OOF areas between them.
For a subject that is approx 1 inch depth 22 image... (show quote)

Thanks Grahame, I'll look into that program, and the individual shots. The reason I chose the mid aperture is because the lens has to be stopped down mechanically, the tab is now in front due to the backwards orientation. This makes it difficult to focus and in need of a bright focus assist light. Thanks again, I like the Greyhound avatar, we had three over 18 yrs.

Additional info is needed to give a clue where things went wrong.

Approx. depth of stack (subject)
Aperture used
Number of slices (shots)
Stacking software

Thanks for responding Grahame, the subject was about an inch long, the aperature is a guess, because the lens is reversed and doesn’t communicate with the camera. I estimate it to be about f 5.6- f4.0 about half the diameter of fully open to f 1.4. I took 22 images, moving the Neewer focusing rail one increment closer for each shot. This was processed using photoshop ( subscribed).

I've seen some great macro work on the Hedgehog, unfortunately this is not. Looking for some constructive criticism on this stack. This beetle was shot using a tripod with a Neewer Pro 4-Way Macro Focusing Rail. I reverse mounted an Olympus 50mm f1.4, using the on camera flash from a Nikon D7200. To reduce camera shake I used a remote release. My main reason for the shot was to get the photo stacking technique down, and move on to lighting and composition later. I followed the stacking tutorials to the letter. Clearly missed the mark on this, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Great shot! I don’t usually have much success swatting them early in the season, I wait till they start slowing down..

Great shots ecobin, I saw the commercial for it on tv and forgot where the mid Atlantic air museum was. Wish I had remembered to look it up, I would have gone. Air shows were always my favorite shooting ops, used to go to Quakertown’s when I lived up that way. Please post more if you got em!

Great closeup work, as usual, nice colors! Was this with reversed lens? Also how do you “dispatch” your subjects without the usual crumpled up look?
