This gal landed on a fish sculptor on the back deck right after a pretty heavy rain. It was still very overcast and why the background fell out.
This was taken with my phone this morning from the back deck, I did pull it into On1 for post, but still! Not sure I would have done much better with my full-frame.
One on North America's ubiquitous birds for sure. Still, I never grow tired of posting them.
This one has more of a fine art, painterly feel than a proper photograph.
I really enjoy capturing sunrise silhouettes. The spring migration gives the added benefit of flocks of birds. About 200 shots to get a good one. It's a bit saturated but I like the affect, makes the birds stand out more.
This one of those happy mistakes. I had my CPL on to bring out the sky capturing shots of birds in flight when I happened upon this little blue heron perched on a fallen branch. The CPL worked great with the water's glare and reflection, but it sort of over-exaggerated the blues of the heron. Gives the image more of an "art" feel.
of course, the second is SOOC
The first image is the final product, the second is straight out of the camera, not even cropped. I find this is a creative use for images that I passed on for one reason or another when processing. At craft shows, I sell more of the painterly prints than the fine art ones, but they cost about 1/3 of what the FA prints go for so that might have something to do with it.
Hi Jim, really interesting experiment. I could see using AI as a first step in colorizing a photo with human touch up afterwards. Try taking the AI output and see how close it can be processed to match the original. Great work.
We always seem to have a brown pelican that hangs out at the village pier here on St Simons Island. It's been going on since I was a kid (many decades ago!) so I know it's not the same pelican, but whatever one sits there is the defacto Village Mayor.
These 2 cormorants showed up at a spot I visit often and let me recreate a silhouette shot I took several years ago. It's always nice to be able to get a second chance with the "if only ..." knowledge learned from the first go around.
I love this time of year. I am lucky to wake up to this view right from my back deck.
Frank wanted to discuss sharing the beach, but Reginald was having none of it!
It was a perfect morning and tide today. This heron was kind enough to pose for about 45 minutes.
Had a few minutes with this beauty today.
