I switched from LR to C1 as well, and am very pleased. However, I do wish that someone would publish a written/printed manual in English. As an old guy, I work better from paper instructions than I do online stuff.

I have an ignorant question for which I will apologize in advance: Other than the joy of working with film and film processing, is there a technical reason to use that medium instead of digital? I ask because I still have a very good Nikon F3, my ancient SRT-101, and an equipped black and white darkroom.

I have Time Machine, plus two 3TB (I think) external drives, but I made a huge mistake when purchasing my MacBook in only ordering the 500GB drive instead of 1 or 2 TB -- under the mistaken impression that the smaller drive could be switched out when more capacity was needed. Had I done my research, I would have learned that the drives couldn't be switched.

After the initial Brownie, I transition to a Kodak Signet 35, then to an Argus SLR with shutter noise that would wake the dead. Finally, after finishing my education, I purchased a Minolta SRT-101, along with the 50mm standard lens, plus a 28mm and a 135mm. I ran mostly Tri-X, and developed and printed it myself. What with much better quality, quieter operation, and a match-needle exposure meter, I thought that I had hit the high point of equipage. I still have the camera and lenses stuck back somewhere or another.

I purchased what must have been a gray market Nikon decades ago, from a now-defunct (I hope) NYC camera store. The lens came quickly enough, but the body took months and required a multitude of calls. It finally arrived, but with an owner's manual that had been photocopied. What's more, the batteries discharged very quickly, requiring removal of the battery case whenever the camera was not in active use. Of course, Nikon (rightfully) would have nothing to do with it. Since that time, I have bitten the bullet and done business only with outlets having an impeccable reputation -- preferably locally.
