You have a fantastic and creative mind and a great deal of skill in making your inner vision appear for the rest of us to see! Thank you for sharing. I, too, am now interested in mystical type photos <grin>. Also, if your name indicates your life situation, thank you to your husband for serving, and a big thanks to you for being the wife of a sailor!

I met a 22 year old South African woman who told me that a similar law was passed in South Africa. She said many rapes were occurring by bad guys grabbing girls and women stopped at red lights. The woman I met wants to move to the US because she doesn't feel safe in her home town. DrJ

I spent several months working in a central Brazil town. After midnight you could go thru a red light because of the crime related to stopped drivers. The result: people would zoom thru red lights and people with green lights would stop so they didn't get hit.

I think there are ratings ( like cat III, or category III) that describe the meter's capability. Others here may explain this better or expound on it more. But I think it might be something to consider versus your requirements.

Harbor Freight has a digital automotive multimeter for about $36.00. The guy on the EEVblog recommended an Extech EX330 available at Home Depot (but you must order it and pick it up or have it delivered - its not normally in the store). Obviously, the Fluke meters are top of the line and some of the analogs are great also (I have two simpsons and a micronta (radio shack)).

I still have thousands of electronic components from Radio Shack dating back to the 1980's......anybody who soldered circuit boards back in the day used them or Allied Radio and I still have an account with them that is active ,though I rarely purchase anything and the LAB is shut down now.....It's a Museum Now....(go figure) .... like the rest of my home , I am suddenly aware of on a frequent basis.)

Nobody wants this stuff anymore......very sad actually .Should have sold it all 20 years ago. I had been following the EEV BLOG.COM site with David Jones in Sydney AUS. and he is the Bees'Knees of the techies currently with over 2 million followers on You Tube. Anyone interested in circuit design should look this guy up o line..He is one of a kind and a rare bird indeed.

I too have many of the same memories of RS. I do believe they are still doing business mostly on the internet.

There are a couple other sites similar to EEV: w2aew and allamericanfiveradio.

Thank you! Those are outstanding! You very cleverly included a couple "hidden" items in the photo. The two benches on the other side of the river and the ghostly item down river (a boat perhaps?). I love photos that reveal more the longer you look. Thanks again-loved them.

I thought the names River Tees and Yarm sounded familiar. I made several visits to Middlesbrough (month long each) a few years ago. (Actually I was working at Wilton and staying in Middlesbrough.) Lovely area and great people. It was during those trips that I fell in love with British coastal towns like Saltburn by the Sea, Whitby, Scarborough. Ah so many found memories. I still get a craving for a Parmo (sp?) every now and again.

Thanks again for the lovely photos!

I, too, felt that those warranties were a rip-off. For some reason I bought one for my Subaru Forrester and it saved me about $5000 on a new engine. Not my fault, those engines were bad- they had lots of problems with them. Which brings me to my point. Don't buy the first (or maybe second year) of a new design engine and research the history of the engine you are going to buy. Make sure it has a good reputation.

Hi all, I also really like your photos and love the idea of getting photos of things before they are gone. For those interested in signs, there is a sign museum (American Sign Museum) here in Cincinnati, Ohio. I realize its not the same thing as finding and documenting signs in their natural habitat, but some might enjoy it.
Thanks for the great work!

Do any of you have the URL's for sites that sell good film (35mm) at reasonable prices. I have 2 Olympus OM-3 cameras that I purchased and used quite a bit in the 1970's. I've been thinking about digging them out and giving them another go.

Thank you so much,

Willard

Hi, there is a place called freestyle photo (https://www.freestylephoto.biz/) that sells 35 mm film. I have not purchased from them lately but 10-15 years ago they were a good source. I just looked at their website and they seem to have many b&w film sizes, speeds, and manufacturers available. I even saw some infrared film.

Good luck and happy shooting.

Welcome to the forum Howard. Lots of fun and info here.

Hey, how'd you get a picture of where I live? Just joking, nice photo by the way. I have noticed several photo ops like this while in South Dakota. Thanks everyone for the warm and encouraging words!

Hi all, Just now getting back to photography in prep for something to do in my retirement. Look forward to learning a lot from the group, especially this new digital stuff. Years ago did 35mm, medium format, and a little 4x5. Then life got in the way. Now I'm interested in landscapes, and city scapes, especially old buildings with nice detail and craftsmanship. Thanks and look forward to your comments.
Thanks Howard
